Need feedback on purchasing next boat

Don't forget the 390 express as well. A little slower than the 340, but tons more space and with a bunk bed berth for the kids. There are plenty around as well. I loved mine, but the boat yard had a little mishap that resulted in a total loss. Definitely any 80's boat you're looking at will...

    Official 390 E.C. Thread

Your strainer gaskets are probably shot. they are either cork or rubber, and you can't switch according to perko. yours should be cork, but it's worth checking to be sure. the gasket kit is part # 0493dp799m from perko. The strainers are size 6. When you rebuild them, be very gentle with...

VSC ? Not a detterent for a CG boarding !!

The only boarding experience I've had with USCG was pleasant enough. They hopped on, did their normal line of questions, and asked when I had been last boarded. I got quite the look at the answer of "never". That being said, everything was in order and they were done quickly. Last season I...

    Little Egg Inlet...Post-Sandy

I ran it in late April last year. I don't think it was quite low tide though. It was passable in my 390, but I only have a 28" draft, and even at that we got close a couple times where you heard the tone of the prop change as it started sucking muck at the edge of the channel.

    Little Egg Inlet...Post-Sandy

Thanks for posting that. That is great news! I just saw the other day that the Coast Guard pulled the markers because it had gotten so bad over the winter.

Prices vary wildly, and it pays to shop around. It also depends on where you want to be, and what you're looking for in your marina experience.

Starboard engine not starting, Neutral Safety Switch

I had the same problem on my 390. I changed the neutral switch, and it still did it. Then it started getting worse and harder to get it to start. It turned out to be the slave solenoid for the starter, but my laziness cost me a starter before I got around to changing it. Pop the engine hatch...

    Tunnel/pockets on 80's 300's & 340's

I don't want to get in the middle of someone else's fight, but here's a photo of a 2011 68 hatteras: and here's a 2011 54 hatteras: and i know they used them on some of the older hatteras boats as well. I can't say I've seen them on a bertram though.

Thinking about next boat late 80's 340 Express Cruiser

I started out looking at 340's, and at one point had a deposit down on an '89 340da. After the surveyor rejected that one, I went back to looking around, and I made the mistake of showing my wife some 390ec's, and that's what we switched our focus to. Despite being a royal pain in my backside...

    Gen IV 7.4L Mercs.

1990 should be the last year for the mark iv. The gen v came out in 1991. The easiest way to tell is look at the fuel pump. The gen v eliminated the mechanical fuel pump provision.

    fuel usage

At 3200 rpm, you should only be burning about 9-10 gallons per hour with that engine. I would verify your tach also, maybe youre turning more rpm than you think. My 1991 250da ran 25 mph at 3700-3800 rpm turning a 15.25x15 prop. Also verify your wot rpm and speed. This will tell you...

Help my niece's parents win a free wedding!! Story inside

My little niece was diagnosed with leukemia last december, right before christmas. Since then, she and her parents have been through hell. She's been at CHOP since her bone marrow transplant in February, somehow beating the cancer, but getting hit with every other complication imaginable. The...
