    Help with Torque Steer

JVM225, Where did you find a CR drive for an A-1 G-1? Is it a mercruiser? I may bite the bullet this fall and drop the grand on one from sei, plus install of course. This torque steer thing is wearing me out. I like to run up river 10 or 20 even 30 miles and drop the hook for the weekend...

    Help with Torque Steer

88 Sundancer twin 260hp stearn drives. 2010 replaced both outdrives with SEI standard rotation along with new gimbal rings and gimbal bearings and both props freshened up with new hubs. 2011 fresh bottom paint. 2012 new inclosure, has nothing to do with this but I really like it. Usually I am...

    First time winterizing question

This thread has been very educational but I have yet to see any mention of how to insure protection for the power steering cooler if the boat remains in the water. Should the water in the sea water supply line be forced down to lake water level with compressed air and AF poured into the supply...

Is counter-rotating drive worth the dough

To my knowledge SeaRay never use a counter rotating engine, I have only heard of that is some early Chris Craft models. To change to a counter rotating drive you would change the lower unit only plus reverse the direction of your shift cable. I decided against it based on the advice from SEI...

Tell me about your SEI experience

Thanks for your input. The overheating problem you had I assume was the impeller housing, did you replace it with a merc to solve the problem or an aftermarket? Was the replacement housing a good fit? When you installed the drive did you replace the shift cable and bellows? I've read that...

Tell me about your SEI experience

I would like to replace both of my 22 year old stearndrives with new aftermarket units from SEI http://www.sterndrive.cc/index.htm I would like to hear your experiences with them, such as customer service, durability, servicability, good or bad.

Is counter-rotating drive worth the dough

You are correct sir on both of your observations. I am currious about any possible advantages of refitting the port engine with a counter-rotating lower unit.

    Gas filler cap?

I too had to replace my caps and followed Sundancers suggestion by ordering the fuel fillers from marinepaertsdepot.com but the caps did not fit so ended up replacing the whole fillers instead. Be prepared for the same outcome. They were nice fillers though.

Is counter-rotating drive worth the dough

I will soon have the alpha drives gone through, seals, bellows and general inspection. Installing a counter-rotating drive on the port seems logical but is it worth the 2 to 3 grand extra? The most I can gather from my mechanic and local prop shop is that the handling in reverse will be better...
