Upgrading From 1994 200 Overnighter - Need Advice

Boat looks nice. Real clean. Can't help with the oil results, though. As far as towing, keep an eye on your rear axle rating. When I was looking at towing my 220BR, I found that pretty much any half ton can tow it if there was NOTHING in the truck. But as soon as you add people, gas, and...

    Mid Winter Checkup

My boat is towable, so it lives next to my house, under a cover, with a Davis Air-Dryr and desiccant buckets, under a metal carport. Peeked under the cover after our week in the teens n twenties. Everything is still there, no bugs rodent or mold issues (never has with this setup). Batteries...

Just tied up by the camp site

Whoops, I missed that question. highslice is correct. It's a manmade float boom to keep people away from the dam. Can't tie up to it, either.

Just tied up by the camp site

Where the boat is in the pic it's 50ft deep. Most of Alder Lake is 100-200ft deep and steep banks. Very difficult to anchor.

Just tied up by the camp site

Went camping on Alder Alder Lake in Washington State. Not technically an official mooring, but it's out of the way and not blocking usable shoreline, so the campground hosts let it slide (another reason it helps to be kind to people). The ONLY downside is it's not completely protected...

Flooring Questions for 1994 Signature 200

I haven't torn mine up yet (1994 220BR), but I'm certain it's epoxy-painted marine plywood. We have boats that just missed out on the fiberglass floors. If my bilge is any indication, my floors are a dull blue-gray epoxy paint under the carpet. Not as pretty as the white fiberglass surfaces...

    Sea Ray horn issue

Oof. Glad my '94 has good old fashioned single switches. I'd forgotten newer boats used the EIM things.

    looking at a 1979 22ov sedan

Fiberglass coming loose from the wood, to me, is a sign there is extensive repair work needed. The only reason it would come loose is moisture or rot. If it was still sealed and it was coming loose, that's still bad. And if fiberglass is coming loose, it's a fair bet moisture has ingressed...

    Sea Ray horn issue

Stuck switch? The only things in the circuit should be battery, fuse, switch and horn.

YETI Coolers - Function or Fad?

I'll be honest. I thought this was a joke. It doesn't even have a lid.

YETI Coolers - Function or Fad?

The rotomolded coolers like Yeti are everywhere now. And they work well. Problem is, they also cost 2/3 or more of the price of a Yeti. Rtic, Blue, Monoprice, Orca, Amazon... made overseas or in the US the price isn't that different any more. Yeti is still the king as far as I've researched...

    Jescar - Power Lock Plus

Please post your results over time as well. For me, it's way too soon to judge the usefulness of Powerlock. It has a solid track record on cars for sure, so I'm not thinking it's bogus. But the test of a sealant is never immediate results, but longevity. If there's anything I've learned from...

    Suggestions for wakeboard tower

I've been debating adding a tower, too. Just make sure whatever you do, reinforce the crap out of the area you're mounting to. Wakeboarding didn't get popular until the late 90s, so my boat in particular ('94 220BR) was never designed to have a tower putting loads on those areas (I don't...

    Marine Vinyl Cleaner?

I'm trying something different this year. I know vinyl is a very durable material, but I feel all-purpose cleaners (APCs) and degreasers are a little overkill for my routine cleaning. Simple Green and other APCs are lightly alkaline, and most degreasers are severely so (for reference, Spray 9...

Can I drop a 5.0L Merc into my 185 Sport...?

Holy smokes... That's quite the machine! I'm surprised they're putting all that through a plain Alpha Gen 2 outdrive.
