I checked out the sending unit and it looks flat to me. This is the first time this problem has happened and since the boat is 2005 I would think I would have experienced it previously if there was an installation problem. There is only about 3"-4" inches of room above the tank and I would...
Did you use marine grade flat screen or a home unit? My first preference is to have the tv mounted permanently. I have a flat area on the hardtop that can be accessed for wiring and mounting. The area is about 13.5 inches deep so I am restricted by that measurement. The width over 30 inches...
I have been thinking about that as well. Did you have any problems will the sunlight while watching the unit? In my researching I have found some lcd tv's that are made for outdoor use. One of the "claims to fame" is that they are brighter and sunlight doesn't affect the picture.
In researching the web, I came across several different size overhead tv/vcr units. These units are actually intended for a motorcoach or custom stretch limo applications but since my boat, 2005 390 Motor Yacht, has a hard top, I am thinking about installing one in my boat. They are 12 volt and...
Thanks for the responses. I'll check that the sending unit is lying flat. As far as recalibrating the Smart gauge, I looked this morning and both tanks read virtually the same level. When I do experience the problem with the port fuel tank, both the indash analog and the Smart gauge show...
I am experiencing a problem with my 2005 390MY diesel. The port gauge and smart craft monitor shows a huge difference in the fuel level compared to the starboard tank. I am assuming both of these gauges use the same sending unit. Last night the starboard tank gauge showed 65 gallons while the...
SeaGull,
Again, my fault, my apologies. My initial test for voltage was at the dock stand. There are dual 30 amp receptacles and I tested each and found 120 volts on each. I then went to the boat's 50 amp breaker and found 120 volts on each side of the breaker. It was then that I assumed...
Please accept my most humble apologies for my last post. Perhaps my frustration with starting the season out with a problem that appeared out of no where, the fact that the dealer checked things out and told me that the fix was replacing a $3000 part and finding out they were wrong caused my...
First of all, I don't profess to be a professional electrician. In my original post I stated that I did check for power. What I found was 120 volts on each side of the 50 amp breaker. Apparently and this is what I learned from the Charles tech, was one leg of voltage will show up on each side...
Is is possible to upgrade a present dock power service from dual 30 amp service to a single 50 amp service? I realize the wire size should be heavier but is it possible to wire a 50 amp outlet with the present wires. I am trying cut out the reverse y adapter situation I presently have and just...
A little background on my "problem". I had a local searay dealer diagnose the problem. They informed me that the ISO transformer was bad and just the transformer was over $3000.00. Again, I had no problem last year when the boat was taken out for heated storage. Upon launching this year I...
Thanks, I'll check for a fuse. I guess when you think about it, it is possible that there is a fuse on the unit. The cable master does go to a 50 amp breaker before it goes to the ISO transformer. Sure would be nice if it were just a fuse.
Well, the good news is, I found the ISO transformer. The bad news is, the unit has power going in but no power going out. From what I can gather, the Charles Industry unit is around $2000.00 on the web. The other problem is getting the unit out, by the way, it is located near the washer/dryer...
Dock power present but no power in boat. I checked cord and there is power there. I check the 50amp breaker in the aft cabin closet and there is power there. Found no power in the electrical closet. The boat is equipped with a ISO transformer but I am not sure where it is located.
Any help?
