BillK, great advice, thanks!
Specifically, my wife and kid want to go to Eddies it's nearby and it's got a beach area for grounding. I see a lot of boats there, was just trying to figure out the best way to get out.
Many thanks for your experience!
Hi All, I'm on Lake Norman and have a 240 Sundeck inboard/outboard. I've been wanting to visit some local islands on the lake, and a local restaurant where beaching the boat on sand is the norm. Getting onto the beach shouldn't be too hard. but how do y'all back the boats off when it's time to...
Hi all, I had my boat winterized last winter, and they left three blue, and one black plug out. I've been looking (apparently in all the wrong places) for over an hour. I'm just trying to figure out where they go. I *think* the blue plugs are on the engine block, two on the port and one on the...
Hi all, just to give an update, after installing the IAC valve and it stalled out a couple of times, I called the mechanic at the Sea Ray dealership in the LKN area (MarineMax). They repeatedly lied and falsely promised they'd send someone out. They didn't. So, after talking to a friend, he...
As for the engine, I finally had a chance to get under the flame arrestor, it's a throttle body fuel injection. I did replace the IAC and the problem is still happening. So, this is officially getting out of my experience level -- Hopefully the mechanic will be by in a couple of weeks. I'll post...
It's a 2001. I know I sound like an idiot, I think it's a carburetor, because it has a flame arrestor on top. But, I was told by the previous owner that it's fuel injected (But he seemed to be guessing). So I honestly don't know.
Ok, this one is baffling me a bit. I started the engine earlier this week. No problems. It turned right over.
I put in new gas. And let it idle for about 15 minutes docked. No problems.
I drove out of the cove, and did about 10 minutes at cruising speed. No problems.
I came back, and once I...
All, here's a late follow-up. I finally got my boat back from the mechanic after dealing with re-starting issues (impeller AND ignition coil) But for this thread, the shift cable needed to be adjusted. It now shifts quickly and easily there's no delay or thunk. Absolutely needed to be done...
As it turns out it was the impeller causing extra heat which led to vapor lock. But thanks for the suggestion! I'll be sure to remember it for future issues.
Coincidentally, the boat was returned to me today. I happened to be there when it was returned, and the person driving my boat was the mechanic. Turns out it was vapor lock caused by a bad impeller, AND the ignition coil was going too.
Thanks for letting me know about the standard delay. I had...
Everyone, as most you have had more experience than I do, I'd like to get your thoughts. Last year I got a new to me 2001 240 Sundeck with a Mercruiser 350. It ran great. We cruised around during the fall a few times and had no issues.
This year the problems started: I did had bad gas at the...
All, I'd like to get your thoughts. I've been having some issues with my 2001 240 Sundeck with a Mercruiser 350. Background Info: I did have bad gas at the beginning of the season, that seems to be fixed. I've also put in new sparks, oil filter, fuel filter, and batteries. I had the oil changed...
Well, getting to the Serial # was a LOT harder than I though it'd be, and with dozens of photos and video of the plate, I can tell you -- I can't read a damn thing. :D
But going to the dock behind my boat, I can say with a high degree of certainty that I've an Alpha I Gen II outboard. It's got...
