I’ve been dropping off the stern but only in flat calm coves along the river but when wakes come it can be a little scary.
I plan to take her down to Fl mainly on the Indian River, sand bars, bars, islands.
I want to anchor off the bow but how with no windshield pass through?

step over / step around the windshield

There’s no way standing on the deck that one could throw a leg up high enough over the windshield and step on the bow deck and push off w that one leg over to clear, much less holding an anchor.

There is no walk around the windshield either it fastens all the way across.

I’m stumped

Well, your first problem is that you should throw the anchor OVERBOARD, as opposed to "throwing the anchor ON a classic" :)

I can't speak to whether you feel comfortable climbing over or around the windshield, but it certainly can be done. However, I would NOT try to do so while carrying the anchor. Either have someone hand it to you after you are up, or throw the anchor off the stern and take just the rope to the bow with you.

If you wanted, you could keep a short - say 12' length of rope attached to the bow cleat all the time. Run it through a chock, then around the outside of the rail and secure it to a rear cleat or just the rear rail stanchion. Then attach your anchor line to this shortie - all done from within the cockpit. Pick it back up by maneuvering the boat to get the line alongside you and grab it with a boat hook.

There's always a way! ;)

I can only add that anchors should be dropped not thrown.

This is it.

Use a line as long as your boat, with an eye in one end, in both ends would be even better. Snap a carabeaner(sp?) to the eye, and also around the anchor line. Tie the other end of the line to a mid cleat (or hang the second eye loop over the cleat). The carabeaner( is now just free floating on the anchor line, not doing anything. set your anchor like you always do. When it's time to retreave the anchor, start pulling on the carabeaner line until you can grab the anchor line, doing all of this from where ever it's safe for you to be, probably the cockpit. Then just pull up the anchor by pulling up the anchor line.”

Thank you.
