Looking at a 420 Sundancer

My wife and I are going to take a look at a 1990 420 Sundancer tomorrow. Cat diesels. 1100 hours on the port motor. 150 on the starboard that was rebuilt. If my wife likes her we will certainly have it surveyed. Here’s my questions for the wealth of knowledge on the forum:
Does anyone have a line on a good surveyor in CT?
Does this particular year/model have any common issues?
Anything else anyone can share is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Surveyor: Al Prisco. He's excellent and I would recommend without hesitation. http://www.marinesurveyorny.com/.

He surveyed a boat for me and uncovered a number of issues that really saved me some huge headaches.

I'd ask some questions about that replaced motor. A diesel being rebuilt at 1000hrs seems "very strange".

There should be a dedicated thread on this site for the 420's. Likely loads of info there.

I agree. Thank you for your input

I currently own a 1990 420, except mine is gas powered. No real model specific problems/defects other than the usual suspects--
Make sure to sound/check closely around the pulpit windlass install, quite a few that I was looking at when I was buying had soft core/deck around windlass from bad installation.
Also around the front hatches, a lot had soft spots.
Water tank under the salon/mid cabin floor- look in the rear most seat, storage area under cushion will give you a good place to look forward at tank and fill / vent hoses for leaks or cracks.

Otherwise these are a great model--a lot bigger than your typical 420.

If you have ANY questions feel free to ask. I love my boat.(can't let the wife hear that)

Thank you. Super appreciated. I’m sure I will have more questions tomorrow evening.

Another endorsement of Al Prisco. He surveyed my current boat for me up in Westbrook Ct..
