Ski locker to bilge drain - 2005 240sd

the drain in the rear of the ski locker that drains to the bilge is above the floor so all the water doesn't drain back to the bilge! Does anybody have any tricks to making this drain or tips / tricks that you do for yours?
 
That's typical in many, many boats. No magic here - tip the bow up higher and use a sponge.
 
Get a water gun. The kind that you draw back on the handle to suck water into it.

cut the tip off a plastic funnel and glue it to the end of the water gun. Now you have a long narrow end that you can stick right in there and suck almost all of the water.
