Funky smell

I have 2006 Sundancer. There is an access door on the floor of the boat that when opened revels a small pump that appears to take on sink and shower water. There is a horrible odor coming from it. Any ideas how to rectify?
 
That is your shower sump. If you have air conditioning, the condensate also drains into it.

There should be a float switch that empties the sump when it fills with water.

The smell may be coming from the sump box, in which case you can open it up and clean it with any cleaner- I use Simple Green and a kitchen scrub brush. If that doesn't solve the problem, clean the drain hoses that drain into the sump. You can pour some cleaner down there, but you can also run a drain snake or pipe brush up the hoses from the sump box.

Clean the sump first, then the hoses if needed.

Depending on your use of the boat you may have to clean the sump monthly.

I keep a chlorine toilet puck in my sump box....
 
I've been using these for years and the sump box stays pretty clean and slim free.

I toss a few into the drip tray of the AC unit every few months.

Has there been any discussion as to the possibility of toxic chlorine gas development if certain cleaners are used in the showers? It seems there has always been a warning about mixing different household cleaners with bleach for instance. Or is that just wives tails?
Just curious as I just cleaned out my sump and deposited a couple of chlorine tablets in there.

Be careful for sure as there are no traps under your vanity floor drain nor shower drains. Once/month, put a scoop of noflex and a cup of water down the shower drain before you leave for a few days and done.

I put a few chlorine tablets in the sump and noticed shortly afterwards a very strong and lingering chlorine smell in the second head. No smell in the forward stateroom head. I think I’ll remove the chlorine and just go the noflex route.

Wow, it must be the way your plumbing runs, I have never gotten the chlorine smell out any of the drains that go into my sump box... Sorry for the bad advice.

Not bad advice at all, I threw 4 small pucks in and I’m thinking I should just have one for as little use the sump actually gets. Probably less than ten showers a month average.

I usually only have one down there unless it's almost gone and I happen to be in the floor for another purpose...
 
Does anybody know where the access to the salon AC Filter are on a 2009 Sundancer 500? The manual for the 48 says it is under the salon couch and it definitely isn't. Smells terrible.

I always poured a little concentrated citrus scented bilge cleaner down the shower drain and sink drains once a week. This ended up in the shower and ac condensate sumps and kept them smelling fresh all season until it was time to clean the sumps before putting the boat away for storage. The boat never smelled the least bit funky.

You access the salon AC through the aft stateroom. There is an access panel on the stbd side, forward wall.
Move the bed to the aft wall
 
I second the citrus scented bilge cleaner! It's also better for the fish and us too!
