Hi all, I have a "new to me" 2005 searay select 220 with 5.0 and bravo 3. Runs great and we like it a lot.

The engine oil drain hose has disconnected from the bulge plug so I have to figure a way to fish that out in the future but I'd like to change the engine oil now.

The dip stick tube has a brass fitting with threads at the top, I guess for screwing on an extractor.

What brand and model of extractor works best for this?

I have both a Jabsco 12v container mounted pump extractor and their manual hand pump for my twin 4.3's. Believe it or not the manual pump seems faster although with a wee bit of oil seepage at the pump shaft. I stick the outlet end of the hose into a 2 1/2 gal screw top container for disposal. Fast and easy.

I would take a minute and fix the drain hose.... I never had a problem using that..

Get a coat hanger pull the hose to the side. Stick the coat hanger thru the drain hole... join the two and pull thru

I have tried all kinds of electric pumps and drain hoses over the years. Last year, I got the Topsider Vacuum system and absolutely love it. Easy, quiet, slow like me, and clean. I warm the engine (some debate on doing that), stick the small tube down the dipstick tube, manually pump a vacuum, suck out the oil into the drum. Pour into my other oil container. Put it away till next time. Simple.

I am TOTALLY with you on the topsider. Had mine since 2015 and it works as advertised.

Update, I got the hose our through the drain hole and the engine oil is now changed. Thanks all for the suggestions. That topsider looks like a good piece of kit.

I like my Topsider so much I have started using it for other jobs.

I had to change the t-stat and upper hose on my ‘82 Corvette. I sucked out the coolant from the radiator with Topsider, changed the hose and t-stat, poured the coolant (it is new) back in. No mess, no ground work.

I bled new brake fluid in my 2010 Dodge pickup. I sucked the old brake fluid out of the master cylinder (leaving only a little in the bottom) with my Topsider. No need for a turkey baster.

Very handy tool.

I learned if you use it for water based things it will dry out the seal. I bought a new seal kit only to learn it’s a leather seal and all I had to do is clean and oil it. Just an FYI.

A $29 Walmart shopvac that you use only for oil and brake fluid. Flip a switch and pump any fluid 20 X faster than any hand pump. Store it in a Hefty bag.
