Just purchased a VV Mobil and will install on a 340 Dancer. Anyone done this install? Tips? Can I plug it in under the helm station.

Super easy plug in as long as you have an open port.

If you already have SC setup on your boat its just a matter of plugging it into your existing J-box, downloading an App, and pairing with Bluetooth.

If you don't, it is significantly more involved. My boat was "SC Ready" meaning no wiring, no J-box, no terminators, etc. In addition, I had to program my ECU on one engine, so it would identify itself properly as the second engine.

Is this the plug in port? Under the helm station

Thanks, I do have SC already on the boat

I am not sure on your application, but you may need a Merc tech and his computer, to identify the engines for VesselView Mobile. That is what they had to do on my 03 280.

That’s not it, should look like this, might only have 4 connections... One of them might have a dust cover, my 07 320 had a 6 port junction, if I recall..

Thanks Todd, I believe it is the junction box at the top part of the photo. Before I started reading I took this pic, not knowing what to look for. It seems I accidently also got a pic of the 6 port jbox.

Ah, I see it now, did not catch it the first time. The panel in the bottom middle-right, I have that as well, still no idea what it is.

When I'm at the boat this weekend, I'll try to figure it out and let you know. This is a new boat for me, just had it a couple of weeks. Plan to trick out the helm with a Samsung tablet with navigation, vessel view mobile, bluetooth stereo control, security, and a wifi hotspot on board. Will be able to track weather, etc. while underway.

Here is a photo of the 6 port j-box at the helm station. The 6 ports are all full. 2 ports to tachs, 1 port to speedo, 2 ports to engines, and one power port (I believe). I disconnected the connector that goes to the speedometer (upper middle connector). The speedo is not accurate, and wanted to see if VV Mobile would work by freeing up a port. The VV Mobile did connect and work and I am still trying to determine if I am getting all data.

This pic shows the VV Mobile connected to the center connector, with the disconnected connector going to the speedometer on the right. On the left is the pigtail connector that came with the VV Mobile hardware. This connector appears to have pins that will mate with disconnected speedo connector. Has anyone done this?

I welcome any input. This post is part of a multi-step process to see if I can get input from someone who has actually done the hook-up personally, and provide some guidance.

Thanks,

I’d add a 4-way junction box kit (878492K14), connect it to the 6-way with a female-female connector (84-892453a01) and then connect the VV, speedo & a dust cap. That will leave an open port if you want to add something later and you’re not leaving anything disconnected.

Good morning,
I installed one under the dash of my 2015 260DA.. First time user..so it was exploration.
Ended up having to take the dash modules out of the dash cavity to get at the junction point.
Fortunately I had three ports left on the block to attach the harness to.
Follow the instructions to the letter especially when you're turning the app on, on your phone. The ignition switch has to be in the on position before you open the app. Make sure your Bluetooth is on as well.
Went for a test cruise...and it appears to be working correctly.
Read the owners manual from Mercury. That will help you navigate the screens easier...there's a lot there..
Cheers

Thanks AJSB, Ordered the parts you suggested this morning from Ebay, MarineMax didn't have the parts in stock.

Quick question....does anyone know why my Vessel View 4 does not display engine hours? Upon start up it just reads zeros. Thanks

Todd, The six port connector panel in the bottom-right middle is the communications cable block for the switchpads and EIM's. I believe it's call a MUX.
