Toying With Making a Big Change

Yeah I’ve crawled all over that regal at the boat show two years ago was very impressed especially with the king birth They make a nice product

Regal boats of recent appear to be on par with SR based on the reading and comments I see. They are more popular in FL since they are made there. They do not get the accolades like Formula, but they don’t cost Formula money either.
If you are ok considering a newer SR, I think these are the same league. Go back 10 years when SR was better and Regal worse, not so.

Regal has a new 36XO that was just released.... might be just what you're looking for, except non on the used market yet.

Agree. Friends had Regals in the early 2000s and the ones now are much better. I wouldn't have had an early 2000s Regal, but I would now. I agree they are on par with SR for quality, better for amenities.

Very interesting. I'll need to go by a showroom to check them out when were back in FL in December.
And you will find used ones already available in FL.
We have a place in Bonita Springs- boat shopping and availability is leaps and bounds better there than our northern house.

The sea ray 320 with outboards weighs close to 14k lbs ,the regal weighs 11k lbs these are heavy boats.... outboards on cruisers may leave little to be desired in the long run and very very expensive to replace how do you guys feel about these setups ?

Different market. Where I am in PA people look at me odd that I have an OB powered day boat, and would never go back to IOs. In FL, many people look at you weird if you consider IO boats. Resale is likely stronger for OB. As far as replacement, modern 4 stroke OB boats are running 2000-4000 hrs on a regular basis. And when they finally die, 6 bolts 2 plugs and 2 hrs later you can be back on the water.

You may have trouble finding "anything" in a showroom in FL. Everyone I hear from showrooms and lots are empty - sold out. I am sure they would be at FLIB's if anywhere.

I did have the opportunity to spend some time on a 290 Wellcraft coastal with twin 300s Was roomier than I expected it to be ,50 mile an hour boat on top of that. The gentleman was downsizing from a 40 dancer

Sea ray 320 OB is available with twin 350 Mercs, no twin 400 option.
Regal XO 33, 36, and 38 (trips, I asked, but they said it has to be trips, no twin 425 option) are all great boats. The 38xo new, at a boat show, pre COVID, was < 500, but the MSRP was 650. Probably more now. I so wanted it. I have a rack neighbor with a 33xo, and he loves it. No issues at all, super easy maintenance, good gas mileage, 1.5mpg, only through hulls are for gen and AC unit. Seen several in wet slips, just raise the engines out of the water... and flush at the end of the day...

Regal is releasing a fly/bridge boat with triple outboards, no word on length, but I’m guessing built on their 38XO hull...

38' is getting a bit big and defeating the purpose of being nimble, fast and economically but still have some reasonable sleeping accommodations.
