Composting Toilet on 310? (2000-2010)

Thanks Sundancer for your detailed comments. I have decided against it. It seems that the Vacu Flush system is a good one, if not possibly the best. My initial motivation was a terrible experience on a Gemini 34 catamaran that was never resolved, despite expensive attempts. In looking at the videos of the Sea Ray systems, including the head, the quality is way above my previous boat. I'm done with my composting foray ... in retrospect it seems like a major step backwards, LOL. Thanks again for your thoughtful post.

Do vacu flush have a macerator or pump out only?
Could be either or both. Depends on the manufacturer or owner that installed it. Typically, it will have at least a pump out. It's not really about it being a "vacuflush" - both of those items are separate add-ons.

You are the one that made me go out and do the research. I've heard about them, but didn't really know what they were. After reading them, well you read what I said! Many people use the current pump out systems on their boats and I wish my RV was setup that way! There are no clogs or issues compared to what I've read in RV's. I've had an RV for 25 plus years and never had a problem, but there are people that don't flush TP. They put THAT in a bag? Gross and stinky too! Composting and dealing with bagging the urine and then another bag for #2? Yeah, I'd have to hire that out and I don't think anybody wants that job! LOL!! I'm glad you AREN'T putting one in and honestly, I DO think that is the right decision!

I would suggest "No Flex Digestor" as treatment for the head. It makes a difference along with replacing the charcoal in the air filter off the black tank. You can do that very inexpensively by removing it and replacing it with PVC or cut it in half and use a 2 inch union to put it back together. The charcoal can be bought at a fish tank store and is Activated Charcoal. That can be done for pennies verses the $45 to $80 filters you buy!

Good luck with the boat and the toilet!

Sounds like a shitty idea to me.
