500/520 DB official thread

+1 on the Mantus swivel. One of the best built swivels out there. You can take it apart and inspect for wear annually if you like. No guessing as to the state of your critical ground tackle.

Has anyone had the pleasure of loosing their anchor? I'm in search of a replacement and I'm having trouble locating something comparable to the 60lb stainless one I recently lost. I've found a 55lb Lewmar, but the width is way off what I had.

If anyone has replaced an anchor any feedback would be much appreciated. I reached out to a local Sea Ray dealer and they can't get my anchor any longer, however he was going to try to find out who used to make them for Sea Ray back then. Thanks

I replaced mine with a Rocna polished stainless steel and changed the attachment with with a Mantus Swivel. Looks and works great.

I had to replace mine on my 58DB two seasons ago as it was bent by another boat passing my bow (a little too closely). It too was 60 lbs. As Steve said, South Coast was the OEM. They would not sell directly to me so I ordered it through Marine Max. The price through MM was $3973.88 plus shipping. I think the final invoice from MM was $4300. I still have the old one on the side of my house.

Does anyone know what size the zippers are on our canvas?

Tim

I did use these a few years back on another Sea Ray. They work really well. Easy to install. And probably postponed the inevitable canvas replacement for a couple of seasons. Just make sure to get the correct size (tooth count). I think they offer different widths as well so measure carefully.

Has anyone ever removed the couch that holds the pull out bed and replace it with more comfortable furniture. My wife and I can’t hardly sit and watch tv on that couch. We don’t even watch much tv but may sit during a rainy day and it’s just not comfortable to us. I haven’t dug into it entirely but I would think it could be done. I have hardwood floors so may take some type carpet and wall covering. I could use thinner starboard covered with some contrasting material? Just spitballing but I’m thinking it’s going to be a long winter I’m not even out of the water yet and I’m thinking of winter projects.

If your talking about removing the entire couch? I could see going with a stand-alone swivel chair similar to the 480DB I was thinking you could add plywood under the cushions after removing the bed frame and have the exsisting cushions reupholstered in a better foam. We removed our frame and used the area for food storage while living on the boat. I did keep the frame to reinstall should we sell I suggest you do the same.

I hope by “ER” you meant engine room and NOT Emergency room Carter?
Well, I do always say my engine room will keep me young or kill me and the Jury is out! Yes, the Engine Room!!

Battery Charger failed last night… What charger is everyone using?

Any feedback is appreciated…

Installed the Victron Skylla Charger 70A/3 and Cerbo GX. Tied into to the N2K Backbone to share data on the 8616's. A little quirky but the Cerbo has capabilities for many inputs, such as Temp, Wind, Tanks senders and pump monitors, alarms, etc... Just getting started with the temp sender...

The remote monitoring and ability to track the batteries state is pretty cool

Next - Battery Shunts, AC power monitor, Automatic Generator Start? Very Cool!

Have the Battery Shunt on the House/Port Battery. It also monitors the Starting/Starboard battery but only for voltage. I thought I wanted the AC power monitor but once we lose AC power I get a alarm that charging has stopped. I suppose it would be good to know if we have 205volts versus 240 volts. Auto Gen Start is a whole other animal.

I do want to add the bilge pump monitors, a few more temp monitors and ultimately tank senders...

Let the fun begin!
