Twin QSC500's cummins diesels
Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me with a couple problems with my Sundancer 44 w/ QSC500's. The first problem is the smartcraft and all instrument panels are dead, however the motors run great, we still take the boat out for short runs. I've had a few electronic repair guys come out to check for blown fuses, loose wires, so far no problems found. In was great for about the 6 months that I've had it, but occasionally the starboard side tach / temp sensors wouldn't respond when the starboard motor was fired up, so I would have to turn it off and try it again, then it would work. Now, both the port and starboard instrument panels are completely dead, and will not light up no matter how many times I try to start it. The smartcraft system is also dead. I've checked the main fuses in the engine bay, and also the fuses just under the steering wheel, everything appears fine. No blown fuses, all wires intact. I sure hope its not something major with the QSC500's. Any ideas?

Also another small problem someone might know also. There is no water coming out the top exhaust port on the port side motor, at idle. It flows out the starboard side, but not the port side. However, as you increase the throttle, water will then come out as it should. That motor also appears to be running a tad bit hotter than the other. I had a tech completely tear down the exhaust pipes, he found burnt / melted fiberglass indicating too much heat. We had to completely re-work the fiberglass by the exhaust, which wasn't cheap. There was NO blockages found in the exhaust lines. 6 months later, its already showing signs of melting. I think its due to not enough water getting mixed into the exhaust, too much hot air is my guess. I had a cummins mechanic come out, pull the zincs on the motor and a few other pipes, and checked the water pressure going through the motor, it was fine he said. However, something fish is going on with that motor. Any ideas on this also would greatly help. Thanks!

Whewan , can't help with the over heating,as far as the gauges go I have had this problem on my 05 280 ,seems like every few days all gauges go dead. Lift the engine hatch and shake the wiring harness on the starboard side and it seems to do the trick. Figure it must be bad ground ,but still haven't been able to find it. Will keep trying and let you know

Maybe you have a semi clogged riser. How old are the risers? Better check that and manifolds.
