Discharge sea cock. How do your reach it??

I have a 360DA and i am trying to figure out to open and close the sea cock for holding tank overboard discharge. I am a big guy and can get nowhere near it. My wife laid across the port engine and was able to get her hand on it but there is no way she will do this when the boat is rocking three miles off shore and the engine is hot. How do you guys to it? I'm trying to come up with some kind rod and lanyard to operate it but haven't found anything yet.
 
I would just leave it open if I was going off shore. However, I do believe that is illegal if you are not three miles out, so if you get boarded, it could become a problem.

Mine is closed with the handle removed.. it's a no go in the Chesapeake Bay
 
Had same problem. Why do people put things in places that you can't get to. I bought myself a bit of 2 inch piping shaped at 90 degrees. 2 foot long on one side and a foot long along the other. Manage to get to the back corner shimming along in between port engine and holding tank.

Then I lean past the exhausts and can open the seacock with the piping. Can also close with the piping.
