My 268 87 Searay would overheat at speed.problem was pump base leaking taking exhaust. Boat runs great also lowered oil temp good luck John

I found the overheat cause. It was the water pump base failed and was sucking exhaust. Replaced good as new motor runs much better solved high oil temp also. I did the job myself in my 10 th of PD. Old is just a three letter word Lol

My 1987 has a 260 merc.When starting it this spring the engine overheated.No damage second attempt it was fine. I found though it needed a shift cable which I fixed.I also used a older aluminum prop which slipped on me. After all this engine started overheating as I was underway.It would be ok...
