Thanks for the info. I was talking to a couple of guys at the marina today and they said the same thing. I was just hoping that mine would have been on shore at the marina but I haven't seen it yet. I guess I will just have to make another one.
Thanks

Thanks for the info and when I get them back in the boat I will let you know how it goes. And I am not by my computer all the time so it takes awhile to get back!

Here is a pic of the housing. It is a raw water system and not hooked to the water heater. The 2 extra hoses go to the top of the risers. I guess no pic because it won't load.

It seems that that before I got the boat they had some work done to it. One engine has 6 hoses coming off the housing and the other only 4 it dosen't have the 2 that go to the upper exhaust. Would it make a difference if I just get a 4 hose housing and plug those 2 holes? Having a hard time...
I guess I just got confused. Somebody would say look at the flywheel and others would say look at the balancer if you do that then you have 2 different directions. When I bought this replacement engine I had a hell of a time trying to talk to the guy. I just waht to make sure it is going the...
I am looking for a thermostat housing for my 454. The one that is on there has 6 hose connections. It is pretty rusted out inside and I can't even get the thermostat out. I guess I could use a alpha with 4 hoses also.
Thanks
Bob
They say there is a special way of timing these motors? They say use a jumper wire on the pruple/white wire. Mine dosen't have a pur/wh. Where do I go from here?
Thanks
Bob
Are you sure it is the starter? Mine wouldn't start and I took the starter out and drove around to a few marinas to match it up and when one guy jumped it it worked. Of course for some reason I didn't do that. It was the starter relay $20.00 and that was it. But I wasted a good day of boating on...
Just checking have you tighten them all the way? They say you can do it in the water but I did mine on the hard and it took a little time to get the cap started and then tighten it up. Make sure that you cut the packing on a 45 degree angle to make it lap over and seal better.
Bob
I had to put the rutter suports on also. Not a bad job but you just can't get down in there on the 340da and you just have to hang upsidedown. I used a 6 inch piece of foam ontop of the engine and you can lay on that and reach down better to get to the nuts. Also you said your gas mileage was...
I have got 1100hrs on the port and 100 on the starboard. Have a little tranny problem with the starboard and a major oil leak on the port. That is why I pulled them out. Nothing like a bilge full of oil when you are going to have a coast guard inspection!
:smt038OK now its time to get working on my 89' 340DA. I pulled out the engines in the fall and now I want to replace the packing on the V drive drive shafts. Not sure how to do it yet I haven't even looked at it yet. Are there any special tools needed? is there a bearing in there? When we took...
