The strap that holds the door open to the main cabin has frayed in the middle and broken. All the snaps are intact. I tried stitching them together, but that only lasted a year.
I'm thinking of cutting away the bad section in the middle and 'bridging' with another piece of fabric, maybe...
I'm planning to switch from Skisafe (through Geico) to BoatUS. Given my good experience with GEICO for cars, I thought they'd have a good partner for boat insurance.
Bad call. Now that I have a claim, these folks can't even read their own policy coverage, and when I read what their policy...
My bilge filled with water from a leak about a month ago, everything got pumped out and dried out. The mechanic says the battery charger is working OK, but that all three of my batteries are dead.
We're not sure of the sequence of events with shore power (breaker was tripped), and if the...
Checked on the boat (1992 270DA) to find shore power GFCI tripped, battery drained, and about 20" of water in the cabin and engine compartment. Whee. Pumped out the engine compartment, but water did not drain from the forward cabin towards the rear to be pumped out. Even after pumping it...
My 1992 270DA has a stove which is effectively non-functional (the switches for the electric eye in dock don't work anymore). The kitchen doesn't have a microwave (or a good place to put one). Should I remove the stove and put something else in there? If so, any ideas?
Last time my boat was out of the water (getting new bottom paint), they said the outdrive had dropped down from travel mode over the night. I have checked the hydraulic fluid level in the resevoir against the transom, it's all there. I have noticed the trim button doesn't seem to be having...
Well, I was trying to put on the camper top last night, and found out the previous owner never repaired two broken zipper pulls on the front of the bimini. The sliders are there, the zipper pulls are off. I slid one off by hand, but the other seems stuck. Questions are:
(1) Use a little...
I'm in TN and won't winterize until early Nov. Once that's done, I'll take my bimini down and put on the snap cover. Should I just store the bimini in the cockpit or cabin underneath? Take home?
Do I need to do anything to ensure proper ventilation of the cabin/berth under the canvas?
Just yapping with the SR tech on the docks, he mentioned something they have been seeing with smaller cruisers pulled out of the water or on lifts. I think this is limited to Bravo3 drives.
Apparently, the weight of the prop hanging down pulls on the seals enough to loosen them so they...
I can usually lash to the forward deck of the Sundancer and lash to the front rails to keep it from flying up, but it's a pain to retrieve from there- anybody else have any thoughts of a more convenient way?
Put it atop the bimini?
Being a newbie, I didn't have a good sense of how to tell the performance of a 15-year old engine to one that just wasn't working right.
Turns out while replacing my outdrive, I asked the SR techs to check the fuel/air mix, since the exhaust smelled really rich. Turns out one cylinder...
Recently purchased 1992 Sundancer 7.4L B3 outdrive, previous owner had lower outdrive rebuilt recently (verified with mechanic), last fall I believe.
On our 4th outing, the trip out was smooth. I had noticed the fuel mixture has been rich lately (gas smell in exhaust). After powering down...
Just took posession of Sundancer 270 (1992). The water in the fresh water system smells very funny (chemically) and the water has a pinkish tint.
Recommendations for best way to flush? Would I hook up my dock water line to to the filler and then run the rear washdown spigot (and...
Just bought a 1992 Sundancer 270 with B3 outdrive, and saw on another thread something about a well-known corrosion issue. Can someone enlighten me on what to look out for (besides replacing the anode frequently?)
Just buying a 270 cruiser from an owner that only used it for cruising, but I'd like to tow a tube, maybe skiiers and beginning wakeboarders. Should I install a tow point (and if so, how)? Perhaps just mount a pully between the two rear cleats?
