    1992 Sundancer Towing Weight

I find it hard to believe a single engine 290 with a 9' beam and an aluminum trailer would weigh anywhere near 12,000 pounds. My sentiments exactly. The listed dry weight in the Sea Ray archives is 5800#. And I won't buy it if it actually weighs 9000# dry as per the dealers listing sheet.

    1992 Sundancer Towing Weight

I'm considering the purchase of a 92 290 Sundancer, single 7.4 L , Bravo 2 on an aluminium trailer. Sea Ray Model Archives lists the dry weight as 5800lbs. My tow vehicle is a 2003 F150/5.4L rated for 8500lbs of towing capacity. The broker is listing the boat weight at 9000lbs. I've pointed...

    Official 230/250 CC Thread

Just happened along to this thread. I own an '87 Sorrento S24 SXL. Bought her Fall 2011 from the original owner. She was a trailer queen her whole life. Well used but also well maintained. When I picked her up she had a brand new Alpha 1 outdrive with 12 hours, sun pad and bench seat were...

    Cracked Cuddy Port Hole Window

One of the port hole cuddy windows in my 87 Sorrento is cracked in 4 places. Not sure how it happened but I temporarlily filled the cracks with silicone. So far no sign of water intrusion. These tinted windows are made of thin plastic. Question: How do you replace it? It looks like the...

    Water in Power Trim Oil

Thanks for this. I had a look and didn't see anything relaiting to water in the power trim oil. That site has good information about water in the outdrive gear lube. It's my power trim oil that turns milky within a week of being replaced. I know I can't get all of the contaminated oil out of...

    Rotted Floor in Cuddy?

The small floor in front of my porta potty in the cuddy of my 87 Sorrento is carpeted and has soft spots which I assume is rotted plywood. Before I rip up the carpet I'd like to now what to expect and also to get ideas and tips on how to replace it. Is it as simmple as cutting and gluing in a...

    87 Seville

I had an 87 Seville 17B with a ski locker similar to yours. I've had a wake wash right over the front and the locker always drained into the bilge. I'd say your drain line is plugged.

    Experience Veada Boats Seats

OK thanks for the advice. I'll pull them apart this fall and see what's involved in rebuilding. These replacement seats cost about $199 which is not unreasonable. I just hate to install an uncomfortable seat. Would still like to know if the Veada product is any good.

    Water in Power Trim Oil

re: Alpha One Stern Drive 2009 The oil in my power trim oil reservoir is milky. I've pumped it out and replaced it twice and it turns milky in about a week to ten days. I had a look in the stern drive manual to disassemble the cylinders to replace the seals and it mentions a special tool...

    Experience Veada Boats Seats

I'm looking to replace the helm seats in my 1987 Sorrento S24. The wooden bases are rotted and the vinyl is cracking and splitting. I bookmarked this site http://veada.com/whyshop.html from a previous search as being a quality manufacturer that supplied product to Sea Ray. Does anyone have...

    Need Advice on Windshield Issue

Thanks for the replies. Agreed it's always best to do it right the first time. For some reason I thought those screws were put in from the underside of the windshield (duh). A closer look and it appears as though I can remove the windshield and repair the holes and and re-install the screws. Any...

    Need Advice on Windshield Issue

My 1987 Sea Ray Sorrento 24's windshield on the starboard side is loose and 2 of the self-tapping screws that hold it in place are exposed (see picture). I'm getting a small amount of water in the cuddy. The windshield moves every time someone puts their hand on it. I'm looking for advice on how...

    Water in Battery Compartment

I'm not aware of nor have I seen a hose. I can put my finger in the hole and feel the flapper valve. It looks to be flush mounted to the hull without a hose. And I'm not so sure it was plugged after all. I checked the boat out last evening and the battery compartment was pretty much full...

    Water in Battery Compartment

Thanks again for all the replies. I think I've figured out the problem. It appears as though the flapper valve on the starboard side scupper drain isn't working properly. There's an identical drain and sub-floor compartment on the port side and it's as dry a bone even with all the rain we've...

    Water in Battery Compartment

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think of the battery acid concern. I'm sure it's water because I just installed them new last week. They sit in shallow trays that would catch small leaks. So if I drill a hole at the rear I presume I'm going to cut into a wooden stringer? Anything else to...

    Water in Battery Compartment

Just curious to find out if water accumualtion in the battery compartment of my 1987 Sorrento S24 is normal? The compartment is about 3 inches deep and currently has about 1 inch of water (see photo). There doesn't appear to be a drain into the bilge. If you look closely in the top left...

Whats your Boats name and what does it mean to you

"Summer Breeze" ..makes me feel fine. Based on the Seals & Crofts tune and we can always catch that warm summer breeze on the Mactaquac Headpond even on the hottest days of the summer.

Loose Steering Wheel 87 Sorrento S24

It was just as you described it. The nut on the end of the long bolt was only hand tight. Snugged it up and it's all good. Thanks!
