Hi,
OK first, I hope it's OK to still post here...I sold my Sea Ray and picked up a Wellcraft 240SE....there is no forums that seem to be as helpful and friendly as you guys. I will certainly be back to a Sea Ray someday, but for the price, I had to pick up this boat:

I do have a diesel truck, but you are correct.
I called the owner this morning to find out that it would not start. I guess there are a few teeth missing on the flywheel and the starter was locked in and would not turn. He said he would have it taken care of and split the cost totaling $1100...
Mark,
Thanks for the information...it is extremely helpful.
I'm not sure what to do. I can have it surveyed, but I think I should also have a mechanic look at the engine. Another thing I think about is the fact that the boat is always in the water and is cooled by that water, hence there...
Yeah, I guess I should. I gave him a $500 deposit yesterday and said I'd be back Monday to pick up or take posetion of the boat. I'm thinking it may be implied that I was not going to have the boat inspected so I may lose the deposit?
What will a survey check and does the boat have to be out...
It's been a while since I've been here, but I sold my 225 Express Cruiser and I'm upgrading to a 1990 270 Sundancer.
The boat lives in Long Beach water for the past few years, but I intend on trailoring it. It does come with a galvanized trailer. The price for the boat and trailer is going to...

Re: Outdrive noise...taking on water...Major Work???
Today is my birthday and I received bad news. The guy from Maveric Marine in Van Nuys called me and asked that I come down to see what needs to be done and why. The bellows was in fact leaking, the u-joints are very rusted… gimbal bearing...
Just the thought of that freaks me out. I thought I finally got a descent boat. It doesn't appear to be rotted out and I filled the bilge with water, let it sit for a half hour with no seeping. How do you tell if the transom is rotted out?
OK...I've been thinking about having the OD serviced, but currently waiting for my cockpit enclosure to be finished. I will definitely have it serviced before taking it out again.
I have to run the bilge every half hour or so the last time out. Cruised for an hour or so steady.
Hello and thans for another very helpfull forum.
Bought my boat about 3 months ago,had it out about 7-10 times and it ran great. A few things here and there, but so far so good. When I open the engine compartment while running, I can hear an intermittent tick coming from the outdrive. Is not...
