Originally mine never was. The only reason I have that option in the current WH is that this was the only version available when I needed it. I thought I might hook it up some day, but so far never have. As I'm in So FL, the genset is usually running, so have not seen the need yet.
Forrest, yours looks factory done, but I could be wrong. The more I think about it, this should be a great mod. Not only for HW leaks, but the shower sump is down there, with all kinds of plumbing, bow thruster, etc. Does anyone know how much clearance is on the other side of that bulkhead...
Uhmmm.....I do not have that limber hole. See the attached pic. And it makes complete sense to have it. As noted, I've had my water heater flood up to 6-8" of water. In addition to ruining the water heater, this is a huge safety issue with a flooded elect water heater.
I'm thinking about...
Forrest,
Re your water heater leak, I have had several leaks down there, most the cold water push on fitting. Replacing it was the quick an easy fix. i just had another leak and turned out to be the Temp/Pressure valve. It was very slow, missed it the first time. A drop every few seconds...
Get the 1 gal metal one from Lowes. It's in the hot water heater parts section. I bought a whale one (I think), it was over $100. The Lowes one was I think $40. Same part. Once you have one, you'll never go back. The small black ones stink and are too small for our boats. One of the...
I've watched yard guys pound on prop knockers with major force. This is a shock load that is different from fwd/rev use. On my previous boat, a yard used a prop knocker on my stb prob. Shortly thereafter, I found chips in trans fluid. Coincidence?
Also, the yard guy does not care about your...
As noted, I already have vacuum gauges on the Racors. As for running the boat to do the same, that is true, but the pump moves 4-5 times more fuel. I'm 1/4 full (50 gal.) so I can filter more fuel faster. An hour of running will filter 360 gal of fuel or filter the 50 gal 7x. Then change the...
From another thread, I posted: "I got a "Norcold 169000500 Power Supply" from Amazon and it has been working great. It was a gamble as this part # does not apply for the DE0061, but it has been working for over a year & a half with no issues." I think it was $130.
Hi All,
I've found a cheap way to polish fuel (I think). I got a diesel fuel transfer pump (gear, not impeller) from Amzn (about $90), then I disconnected the fuel hose from the Racors, connected it to the pump (needed a fitting to do so), then disconnected the fuel hose that goes to the tank...
Agree on not being able to read the Garmin VHF display!.....I bought one. It was so bad, I thought it was defective, returned it, got another one, still could not read it. Called Garmin, etc, but returned that one and went with Standard Horizon. I've had several Icoms and others, but I've had...
Grant,
Do you have any info on Honeymoon Harbor being closed to us? I've heard a cruise ship company has made an agreement with someone to make that their island and boaters are not allowed to go ashore?
thanks
Larry
Hey Grant,
Do you have any info on Honeymoon Harbor? I hear a cruise ship company has made a deal with someone and now we are not allowed to go ashore there? If so, this might be the last straw for me at Bimini.
