My 94 400EC has the 502s and I do most of my cruising at about 1200 rpm. That gets me between 8-10 mph on my GPS. I seem to have the normal amount of problems for a boat of its age.

I just started replacing all my cockpit vinyl as well. I started with the seat cushion next to the sink and the plywood had a little rot. Unfortunately, this probably won’t be the only one needing new plywood.

That looks great! I just bought a sewing machine and plan to get my feet wet with the flooring. Are the aft bottom edges of your helm station and passenger station even with each other? I just made my templates and my port side station sits about 2 inches back from where the starboard station...

Ours was done while we were in the process of buying the boat. They left the original carpet on the walls and stairs. I thought it came out well and was a great update to the boat.

    2 generator cranking batteries?

I just bought a 1994 Express Cruiser with Mercruiser 502s this week. I replaced the 4 batteries that mine is equipped with and was equally confused by the layout. Mine has 3 batteries on the starboard side (from bow to stern - group 24F, group 27DC, group 27DC). The group 24F starts the port...
