No Trim Guage on my instrument panel

My boat is a 2003 176 SRX. There is wiring for a trim gauge behind the "dashboard". The engine is fresh and had 95 hours on the hour meter when I bought the boat. I have no idea why my info says boatless and can't figure out how to erase that or add to it. So be it! I live in Flagler Beach FL if...

No Trim Guage on my instrument panel

I have a Sea Ray 176. The engine is the inline 4 cylinder 3.0L MerCruiser sterndrive. I do not have a trim gauge that indicates if my outdrive is up, down, or in between. Is it possible my Sea Ray was sold without one? I have all the books with the parts. I looked for the trim gauge part number...

    Hard to find Westerbeke Parts

I was a merchant marine engineer on US flag ships. Lifeboat engines are Westerbeke. I always heard they are a Perkins diesel with a different head. Investigate Perkins. I saw their factory in England somewhere...a big place.

Why no big Sea Rays on the West coast?

I know the large models were delivered out west. Until recently the Sea Ray factory in my town, Flagler Beach, FL, made the largest models. I knew a guy who'd been a Teamster in Detroit hauling steel who moved to Florida and pulled for Sea Ray. His stories were incredible of driving I-10 west to...

I need to adjust the steering linkage....

I'm the owner of a 2003 Sea Ray 176 SRX with a 3.0L inline 4 and AlphaOne Gen II sterndrive. The steering wheel is almost 1/2 a turn off, that is, to go straight the steering wheel has to be turned almost half a turn. How hard is it to adjust the linkage the steering linkage or pull the steering...

Are their any Sea Ray junk yards out there ?

I need a trim gauge for the dashboard of my 2003 176 SRX and some clevis pins for the tubing that supports the awning. I don't think there are any Sea Ray dealers near me anymore.

Just a few questions about purchasing a boat

I recently bought a used Sea Ray 176. I learned through Mercury that the original owner was from the eastern side of Ithica and the next owner was south of Binghamton NY. I am happy to get a fresh water boat. for what it's worth, I told a friend who was in boat related industries for 50 years...

Advice on service manual/engine bogging down

I'm about 2 weeks ahead of you brother ! My new- used 2003 176 SRX had no paperwork except a title and trailer registration. the test ride was slower than normal. The dealer took it in on a trade in and said they changed the propeller. He was a useless mouthpiece falling behind the excuse " I'm...

    I Just bought a 2003 Sea Ray 176 SRX

Yes. The numbers match for all the outdrive parts. The Engine number in my boat I haven't found yet if it's supposed to be on the flange for the starter ( where Mercury's email said to look). I would have to be a man 10 inches tall to walk under the engine to find that ! The flame arrester has...

What's the best place to get a used boat value? Selling my 2010 22 Sundeck

www.searchcraigslist.org Go to this site and type in your boat nationwide. Make a list of boats with similar age and features. Make note of what state. Subtract heavily (in my opinion) for any salt water boats. I did this before buying my boat last week, a 2003 176 SRX. Boats even 4-5 years...

    Official Maritime College Graduate Thread

Didn't have the "right stuff" for admission to the USMMA in two tries from Florida (also rejected from USAFA and USNA). While working in a Ft Lauderdale shipyard I learned about the Calhoon School, applied. and graduated 3.5 years later. I had active seaman's papers from late 1972 till about...

    I Just bought a 2003 Sea Ray 176 SRX

I contacted Sea Ray and they gave me the engine and stern drive numbers of the machinery when the boat was built. The engine certainly looks like it is brand new and there are 92 hours on the engine hour meter. The engine is missing the oil drain hose on the oil pan. Also the valve cover bolt...

Has anybody ever contacted Sea Ray about your boat ?

I wrote to Sea Ray yesterday and asked for the build sheet information. I included the hull serial number. they wrote back an hour later and gave me the engine # and stern drive numbers. What is bizarre it the engine number I have and the engine that came in the boat are different numbers. The...

Has anybody ever contacted Sea Ray about your boat ?

I read that Sea Ray keeps a record of their boats. Has anybody ever done this? I will contact them and see if they can tell me the original engine number and any warranty work done on the boat and see what they can tell me.

    I Just bought a 2003 Sea Ray 176 SRX

BillK, Thanks ! I found the 176 SRX parts list online and can go from there looking for the dash board guage. It doesn't have to match the others but it would be nice. I will miss not having that oil drain hose. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, originally the boat drain...

    I Just bought a 2003 Sea Ray 176 SRX

Thanks so much Woody. The boat has no paperwork or manuals. the Owner's manual part number is different than the link you sent which is the correct one. Now I'm trying to find the Parts Manual. I contacted the Mercury web site to order the factory engine and Sterndrive service manuals and parts...

    I Just bought a 2003 Sea Ray 176 SRX

Lazy Daze, thanks for adding that. I was advised by a guy in my antique outboard motor club to remove the flame arrestor and make sure that the butterfly is fully open when the throttle handle is in the wide open position....doing this with the engine off . I ws also advised that with little gas...
