That's the big question. . . Hopefully the state of MI will maintain it. Maybe the Corp of Engineers, but I don't think it qualifies as a "federal waterway". My understanding is that if no one will maintain it, Consumers will have to remove it, and it won't be long before pigeon lake is no...

Thank you for all the good advice - pulled the trigger yesterday - new props, cutlass bearings, dripless seals another 8 boat bucks. . .;-)

Now that everything else will be tore apart, will replace the cutlass bearings. . .more $. They also suggested going to dripless shaft seals - that's another 2 boat dollars. . . not sure if that is worth the cost. Any suggestions on dripless compared to the current packing boxes?

Recommendation from Holland Propeller: I have spoken with Acme's lead engineer to verify everything, but we have propped this exact boat in the past with great success. I know the forum said four blades is the way to go, however, we found that the Acme 3 blade propellers listed below were the...

The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

Would be nice if they actually showed the index numbers, unless I missed them. Hard to believe that Ford is in the 60's for most of their products - unless its a decimal point difference.

Prop Advice Please: Long story short, I had my props pulled this fall - getting inconsistent fuel usage from port to starboard and more throttle required on starboard to maintain sync. This is what I got back from the prop shop: I assume the advice is accurate - any advice? 1994 400 EC 7.4...

It's going to be a BIG job to switch to the sink/ice maker - It's all part of the fiberglass seat piece. Here is a picture of mine:

The bench does remove with a couple of pins - I would pull that first to get it out of the way. There is also an access cover along the port side of the boat in the back corner ("sister" to the access panel on the starboard side that has the water connections ) that will likely get you where...

I have not done mine - bet we did have ALL the interior out and re-covered a couple seasons ago. The panel he is talking about is behind the rear seat in the "storage" area of the boat, not the seat. To the port side there should be a panel that acts as the end of the compartment. It is held...

Mine has the plastic sliders - I turned them over to get some more life out of them. Lubricated the slides as well.

Not sure exactly where the sand bar is but saw this from the Anchorage Marina newsletter: Port Sheldon There is a sand bar in the channel. We hear that there is a large area expanding the width of channel were the water is only about 3' deep and even small fishing boats are having issues getting...

The latest plan is for them to shut down the plant in 2025. . . they need to keep the channel dredged for the cooling water - I heard once that if the channel ever plugged they would suck pigeon lake dry in a few minutes. They did have to dredge extra deep 20?+ years ago to bring in some big...

I'm not aware of anything online to monitor. If they don't start soon, then probably no dredging until this fall. I don't think they want the equipment and pipes on the beach once "tourist season" starts.

We hope they will dredge the channel this year as well - our association gets the sand and that will give us a beach that we currently don't have. We will likely hit at least Ludington this year, maybe further if time allows.

What do most figure for food? Do you mostly cook on your boat or eat at a local restaurant? We typically plan for lunch on the boat and eat out once we get to our overnight slip. I don't know if most marinas have restaurants within walking distance? We don't have a dingy so can't dingy from...

Generally I agree - when we were long distance camping, we would have a reservation some place, but would find places along the route to get there. My experience in the Holland / Grand Haven / South Haven area is that it is difficult to find a slip, but I haven't had the recommended apps.

We have considered adding a dingy - but are concerned that a dingy on the swim platform will be in the way of the dogs swimming after a ball off the back of the boat! Could also be an issue in our slip as we have a 40' slip, stern in so we already hang out 5'. Will have to see how everything...

We purchased a 400EC 3 years ago - been slowly getting her back in shape - finally got all the electronics updated this spring so we have working radar and chart plotter. We would like to do some extended cruising - based out of Holland MI. We just don't know what we don't know! My main...
