The official “Prestige Baywide” 2003 Sea Ray 280DA Sundancer thread

Sorry just saw this, are you still looking for info on this? I added a leash too for while underway, because its just an undercabinet tv mount used the wrong way. Without a leash, it would snap off while underway or rip the screws out due to the torque...

Wanted to add for the record, Josh let me know that proper line lengths for autopilot (planned with auto pilot Simrad AP44 kit) are: 14 foot for from helm to AP pump mounted aft of black water tank 2 foot lengths for from 14 foot to AP pump 4 foot lengths for from AP pump to seastar hydraulic...

Update to my maintenance doc below, will update to excel eventually... Lots of stuff the strikethrough didn't convey from MS word. The transom assemblies have been replaced, motors are prepped and should be dropping in soon. Lumitec below water lights installed but no work on the glass dash...

    2005 260 Fuel Leaking

On the 280DA the fuel sender is located underneath the aft mattress under an access panel. However, based off your symptoms, I would also consider that the lines that run from the fill neck to the tank could also be leaking.

    Troublesome EIM switchpads

Does anyone know how much the searay OEM system replacement costs? I ran this up the pole at work, we are considering building a system as a company, preferably we want to provide a system that allows drop in replacement of the original system parts, instead of doing a whole system install.

    Troublesome EIM switchpads

I was under the impression it was a potted assembly and therefore to remove and replace you'd have to destroy it basically. Dunno I'll take a look. In addition then I'd have to get a CAN analyzer and interpret the signals, but now that I have a broken keypad, I cannot do that. In addition...

    Troublesome EIM switchpads

Certainly if I was doing it myself I would count time at zero. However that said I do product and system design for a living so I have plenty of contacts for creating wire harnesses, doing assembly, laser cutting parts, injection molding, etc. I'm probably going to do one for my boat by...

    Troublesome EIM switchpads

Hi all, After having trouble with my 280DA starboard switch pad and also not feeling like spending 4 grand to fix it, I am toying with the idea of just making a kit myself using traditional wiring and carlings. If I used my manufacturing contacts to have units produced at a lower cost, would...

Welp, Was out over the weekend and the starboard switchpad went completely bonkers, predominantly the nav, anchor, complight, and bilgelight buttons. Crazy indicators when stuff isn't on, and the compartment light sometimes is actually the horn. I really wanted to avoid spending the money on...

    Kohler 5e Fuel Line Bleed

Never had to, but I would try topping up the fuel filter/water separator and then crank it. Do not crank for more than 30 seconds cumulatively unless you disable the water pump as the water can backfill the exhaust. Also don't crank longer than 5-10 seconds at a time, give it a 30 second rest...

Autopilot rudder feedback - Simrad AP44

Hi all, I know that the AP44 has a virtual rudder option for the autopilot where you do not need a rudder feedback sensor. I am installing this system on my 280DA and wanted to ask if I should bother with the RF25 rudder feedback sensor or just use the AP44's virtual rudder feedback software...

    Over my generator, ughh

Thats better than MD pricing. My transom assembly likely needs to be replaced, and nobody around me will consider the JR marine repair. I was quote between 6-10K per drive... The transom assembly itself is $2400. I decided I'm doing it myself this winter as labor around here is currently...
