That's awesome. I'd like tackle that on mine this winter because it is very annoying to me at the moment that there is always a small amount of water down there. What ended up being the culprit for you?

Have done a few more trips out to Catalina and the boat is running great. I did the service on generator. It was definitely due, but nothing looked to be in extremely bad shape. Impeller was still intact. Plugs looked not too bad. It still doesn't want to run though. Again on the first attempt...

Been a while since I posted an update, but I have made progress. A bit over a month ago a spot opened up at Cabrillo Way Dry Storage, so I jumped on that and moved my boat over there. They use a crane to launch / retrieve my boat any time I need, which is quite nice since it now is stored out...

After quite a long wait I received new isinglass enclosure for the front as well as new bimini canvas and zipper that runs along the arch. It was a little tedious installing new snaps in the canvas, but overall install went very smooth and will be nice when we head out on a cold morning. After...

I stopped by the boat again and connected a pressure/vacuum gauge inline of the flush valve, so I could see what the suction looked like both when it was only sucking in water through the out drive as well as when it was sucking in water via both out drive and hose connected to the flush valve...

While doing anual service on my dinghies outdrive, I decided to clean it up a bit as well. It is an old Mercury 5hp 2-stroke I got for free last year. It had been sitting for a few years and didn't run well. I rebuilt the carb and cleaned things up a bit and seems to run great now. Used it a bit...

I found some clear hose and adapters, so I can put them inline on the pump output and see what it looks like. I also got a vacuum and pressure guage so I can confirm the water pressure sensor is reading accurately. Also going to connect it on the inlet side to see how much vacuum is generated...

I put the boat back in the water. I looked at the steering cooler, but since it is just after the pressure sensor I think a blockage there would increase pressure and cause cooling issues vs result in lower pressure. So I didn't do anything with it. I ran it just a bit from the launch ramp to...

Thanks everyone. You guys are great. I have not back flushed the power steering cooler, was thinking about that as I put everything back together this evening. I think I will try that tomorrow morning before it goes back in. Any particular method that works best? Can it be removed from the...

Well I pulled the boat out of the water again, pulled the drive and the water hose between the water pump and transom. I then pushed a flexible line from inside through the transom out to the drive through the water intake hose and slide through without any issues. Very easily with no hint of...

Thanks for the suggestions. I did check the flush valve and it doesn't seem to be leaking. You are right on the transom hose though. When I checked it, I was just looking for any build up at the transom wall that was similar to other pictures I had seen of bravoitis. I didn't actually try to...

This morning took the boat and launched it at Sunset Marina and got it back over to Shoreline in Long Beach. Was my first time towing it and launching it, but everything went very smoothly. Once in the water headed over for some fuel and was encouraged that even at 1000RPM the water pressure was...

It took a little while for the new manifolds and risers to show up and to have some time to replace them, but I got everything done a last week. I don't have anything else to compare to since this is my first boat, but overall it has been very easy to work on. Great access to just about...

Looked at the manifolds over the weekend in more detailed and I'm just going to replace them. It is a bit of a shame, because overall they look to be in very good shape, but the little bit of water that was seeping at the connection between manifold and riser caused enough rust that without...

Sorry, picture doesn't show it, but there are 6" spacer risers between the manifold and riser elbow. For those spacers there are these short bolts to attach the spacer to the manifold and then the usual ~5" bolts for the elbow into the spacer.

I finished polishing most of the boat and put on 2 coats of sealer. First time doing a boat and I now appreciate how small cars really are. Overall though it wasn't too bad and I just did it a few hours at a time. Weather hasn't been great the last couple weeks so I ended up not putting it...

I went over the entire hull to get a closer look at the condition of the current bottom paint. Some areas were really bad with the top layer almost completely missing and several layers peeling and flaking off. Other areas the top coat became a bit rough and loose and just running your hand over...

Been busy lately, so just occasionally had time to finish getting coats of paint on the outdrive as well as put the seapump and intake lines back on. This week I cleaned up transom end as well as the trim tabs and painted them by hand with a coat of Primocon and Trilux 33. Much harder to get to...
