Build plans & advice please? 1989 180 Bowrider restoration

This would be super helpful to obtain drawings like this. I filled out the online help form and was contacted by someone from Sea Ray UK. He gave me some advice, but wasn't able to get the drawings from Sea Ray USA. I need to try and get hold of Sea Ray USA to request them.

Build plans & advice please? 1989 180 Bowrider restoration

Thank you Ryan! That would be extremely helpful, as I'm pretty sure that my structure has been replaced once before, not to original spec. Did you call? Was it Sea Ray direct you approached? Best James

Build plans & advice please? 1989 180 Bowrider restoration

Good Afternoon Chaps, More updates for you. I decided to full split the hull, and replace everything. It's all rotten! I've stripped it all back to the original hull fibreglass, ready to re build the plywood structure. I'd like some advice on the configuration of the new transom and strings...

Build plans & advice please? 1989 180 Bowrider restoration

Hey Guys - update. Pretty much all material was ripped out, apart from the two 'boxes' that sit under the swim deck at the back. As I cut away the fibreglass, surprise surprise, more wood rot! The only way to cut these out and replace properly is to split the hull from the top section- so...

Build plans & advice please? 1989 180 Bowrider restoration

Very helpful. Thank you! I'll be sure to ask questions along the way! One question I had already. Should the new plywood stringer section be touching the hull when I fit the shape? I've seen on a couple of builds people spacing the ply off the hull before laminating, to allow for 'flex'? Not...

1989 Sea Ray 180 Bowrider Restoration

Hello All, I purchased my boat back in June last year. It came mounted with a 1986 Johnson 150 VRO outboard. As a first time boat owner, but experienced mechanic - I applied some 'common sense' when looking at the boat before I bought it. Ran the engine, had a look around the trim etc. My...

Mercury 135 Black Max for Sea Ray 180 BR

There's a 135 Black Max come up for sale, and I'd like to re-instate the original engine on my Sea Ray. I wondered if all the 135's came with the same shaft length? Bearing in mind, this engine most likely didn't come off a Sea Ray. Thanks in advance, James

New Sea Ray Owner - Info please!

Good point, thank you! I'd like to put the compass back where it was originally, but I'll have a look for where an additional/alternative could go. Re the 'glove box', I think I got it wrong. Agreed, I'll remove the Forester logo from there. I meant the part to the left of the wheel. Would have...

New Sea Ray Owner - Info please!

Any ideas where I can find a compass to replace the missing one? UK based. Brand names/models for original or replacement would be helpful. Also the glove box. Thanks James

Thanks for all your help so far guys! Do we reckon the original engine would have been a Mercury 135 Black Max?

New Sea Ray Owner - Info please!

Thank you! What would you say were the major modifications? The seating layout? Maybe 'hard life' was harsh. Trim is hanging off and it's missing some components. Would it have been carpeted on the deck originally?
