No. But after checking the pumps by jumping them to the battery, I have 2 in the aft under the generator, 1 works and 1 doesn’t. Also the one at the front of the engine compartment also works. I have a float switch in the aft I am not sure if it works, and a switch in the front that has vents...
I have 400 db that I bought last year so still learning. My 2 aft bilge pumps are not coming on. Checking on the boat I have water in the hull low spots and the switch is in the on position but 2 pumps are not coming on. I also can’t turn them on manually at the panel up top at the captains...
I just visited the boat now that it is warming up and have an issue. My fresh water does not come on. No water at sinks or heads. I am guessing there is a main pump that has tripped. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix or where I should start looking?
First year owning a 400 sedan with 3126 diesels and a Westerbeke 8.0 generator. Looking to see if there is a preventative maintenance plan for these boats and motors.
1st Look at a few different brands and models to make sure you know what you want, what features are must halves, and what price range your looking at. I say this because I just bought a 400 sedan last month after searching for the last couple years. After looking at many boats I narrowed down...
Good note. The diode is a pain to get off and back on with all the other wires on the terminals. Only bad thing is that it seems from most of the other generator won’t run posts the diode is usually bad so you still have to remove and reinstall.
It’s pretty crowded in the bilge, especially with the pump for the hydraulic swim deck. I have the house batteries in the walkway. The engine batteries are on port side aft of the engine, and generator battery starboard side next to the generator.
House batteries. My house batteries are dying and need replaced. Previous owner has 3 house batteries that are group 31 dated 2020. The are westmarine dual purpose batteries https://www.westmarine.com/west-marine-dual-purpose-flooded-marine-battery-860-mca-group-31-19751684.html. Wondering...
You are correct. Factory wiring does not necessarily match. I was able to get the issues figured out and generator now runs correctly. Thank you all for all the pointers and help to this newbie.
findings: diode was bad and replaced, wiring on oil switch and aux oil switch was set...
I have been looking at the wiring previously and today and I don’t know if previous owner may have incorrectly hooked wires up to the generator when working on it? When looking at the wire schematic I found wires not correctly hooked up to the 2 oil pressure switches so I am not sure what...
One other thing is this is a new to me boat. Previous owner owned boat about 9 months and the generator has had this issue since the owner before him. I am wondering if through different people working on this issue if wires could have been hooked up incorrectly at some point. Specifically at...
I have checked all the switches touching 1 lead from the multimeter and the other two the outside of the switch with no paint on it. I get a reading of OL which is open I believe. I have checked both posts on all 3 switches and all show OL. I also jumpered each switch 1 at a time and blow the...
I need to brush up on some dc electrical knowledge. I replaced the diode in the control box that was testing bad. I still have the short to ground however. I tried bypassing the oil pressure switch by just connecting the 2 wires and still blew the 8amp fuse at the control box. I then tried...
