hose fitting advise

Hi, I was wondering if I need to take out the whole engine just to fix that hose or could I fix it exactly where it is after I drain the oil of course?

Any advice on how to make the barbed fittings to the hose easier. Replacing the wire reinforced hoses to my AC raw water intake. Getting these lines off the barbed fittings wasn't easy, I suspect putting them back on won't be a treat either. I have some boot lube I use for water ski boots...
