Hey Folks...
This is my first boat which is why I have some real strange questions. I bought it a year ago, 250hrs on engines and have put about 200hrs on the boat since getting it.
The steering mechanism on the Amberjack, Hydraulic due to shaft drive configuration....
Ok so a little while ago I started to notice some little black spots of really refined substance on the floor under the steering wheel. It has increased now from one or two to a full dusting especially if I move the housing.
I was cleaning and playing around yesterday and found that as I moved the housing more would fall out .... it really seems to appear like fine metal or something it is almost powdery but is black and if I wipe it but not to clean it it will streak on the floor or the area behind. It will eventually come off but anyway that is what it is doing.
Two questions...
1) Any ideas as to the cause and of level of concern.
2) Is there an easy way to take off the housing that I am just not aware of because I have not done it before so that I can take a look in there to see what is going on.
Cheers
