04 280 heat and a/c?

On my boat when the cabin reaches the selected temp the pump stops but the fan stays on Is there a setting where fan shuts off so it's not running all the time? I thought about leaving the a/c on all summer but don't want to have the fan running all the time so I only run it when I'm at the marina.

You should have a fan mode you can change the setting.

Careful if you do shut the fan off once temp is reached. Most units have a temp probe right on the unit. This requires air flow from the cabin, being pulled through the unit to be accurate.

You may want to relocate the probe if this is your plan.

Is it ok to have the fan running all the time? I know people that set their temp all season and just wonder if there fan runs all the time or if there's an auto setting

I set ours to keep running because the compressor is loud and we like the white noise, but you can change it. On our SMXii control unit:

Enter programming mode -- press Off, then Set

Fan mode: Down+Fan+Up changes fan mode. I for intermittent, C for continuous

the newer panels are very similar I think. I don't leave the air on when not at the boat, otherwise I would set it to intermittent. I wouldn't want the fan on 24x7

If an SMX 2 the fan running is normal....at least in my boat. I set the fan on auto. It increases speed as needed when the a/c or heat is called for and reduces speed as the unit shuts down. The plus is there is always air flowing through the system therefore, the chance of condensation/mold in the ductwork. Secondly, the risk of mold throughout the cabin is reduced with a running system. I supplement my HVAC w/ fans.

The only time I had mold problems was when my boat was on the hard for 34 months "getting repaired." A quick internet search said bleach then rinse then repeat. After dry out, followed up with upholstery dressing and all is well.
