I read the other threads re: power steer failures and many were due to a blown fuse and not the pump. Today, my mechanic called and said there was juice on both sides of the pump circuit, but the power assist unit was not powering up. He found it very unusual that the p.a. unit had failed on a 3 yr old vessel, but had already spent a few hours doing thorough troubleshooting. He's going to contact Teleflex to see if they will offer any assistance on the unit (even though I'm out of warranty...OF COURSE!). Replacement unit about $1k-$1,400 + $300 labor. Anybody else have one of these go out this early? What's a little strange is that it was working fine before my bottom job, and then toast after (along with my batt's to starboard motor). I have had intermittent power steer issues over the years of the steering feeling like it would lock-up if I turned in an opposite direction a little too fast, but was usually dismissed by those mech's checking it out.
