Hello, I'm new to this forum and the boating world. I recently bought a used 1987 sea ray cuddy cabin that needs a little work.

The last owner had replaced the original seats and I want to replace the seats he installed with the back to back seats that originally came with the boat. I'm looking at the seats that turn into lounge seats from places like overtons or other retailers.

My question is about the height of the seat. My father in law who owns a marina thinks the height of those seats would be to low to sit comfortably and to steer the boat while sitting.

So I'm just looking for any advice or opinions on the best height for these seats. It would cost me twice as much to order seats with higher bases.

You have a lot of options when setting your seat height. Consider whether you can see while driving? in the standing or sitting position? Will you have enough room to stand and drive if needed? There is nothing worse than having your knees butt against the wheel and your calves against the seat when you are trying to drive. Check out http://veada.com/index.html . I ordered seats from them last year and I was very pleased. I was able to match the colors and seat styles to fit my boat.

I don't have a recommendation as far as seat height, but I'll second Veada as a great place to buy your new seats. They are at least as good as the retailers you mentioned quality-wise, and probably less expensive.
