2000 310 Westerbeke fuel in oil?

Don't know if anyone has dealt with this one or not but here goes. The crankcase oil on my westerbeke 2000 5.0 is being continually fouled with gasoline. The carburetor float doesn't seem to sticking? I understand there is an electric fuel cut off valve as well? Any ideas?

Fuel can get past worn piston rings and drip into the crank case. How's the compression?

Thanks, had the compression checked on the pre purchase survey and it was good?
