Well since it just happened yesterday I was thinking of options to continue boating until a longer term solution is found. If you have the solution I would love to hear it.

Mine started fine when hot for 3 plus years, and then it just started happening for no discernible reason. Who knows what changed, but the check valve did fix it for me.

Yep, it got dirty, clogged or weak over time.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Went to boat this am and both motors started right up, so 99.9% sure they were both vapor locked. Based on your replies and the Mercrusier technical bulletin the issue I experienced checks all the boxes for vapor lock. I just need to make sure I ventilate the ER when stopping to anchor.

@bobeast do you have the info on the check valve? Was it a kit? The part numbers shown in the bulletin seem to be discontinued so maybe I’m looking for the wrong thing.

It probably gets a little warmer here that what you experience. Knock on wood, I have never had this happen to me, that I would need to open the hatch to cool the engine room down

Thanks Chris. I read the same so going to adopt this practice. Just a pain to open the hatch to ventilate the ER when you got a full crew.
