260 SunDeck Anchoring, additional questions

Thanks for the replies. Another question: Does anyone have any experience with the box anchor? They have a website: http://www.slideanchor.com/

This looks like it could solve the storage space issue and if performs as advertise, require less line.
I just picked one up the other day. I like the idea of it. Its definitly heavy though at 19lbs, but it seems it might be easier to store and handle. nice without a chain too. I am just using it for a secondary anchor for the stern.

How about a picture of your 260? I can't find many of us out there!
I'll chime in here. My first pic on the forum of her. I dont have many pictures of her and its not a good one, but here she is.

Nice Picture --- My 2008 is exactly the same color but with a tower. I have a question for you. I've had a hellva time putting the bimini boot on in the past. The fit is so snug that I either have the wrong size boot, or I'm not folding the bimini correctly. Any thoughts? Do you have the same problem?

The boot is a little snug, but what i do and there are probably better ideas, but i use the straps that clip by the front windsheild and I wrap that around the top tightly and then clip it to itself. This way it kind of holds itself wrapped up together a bit.

I just installed the Camper enclosure this weekend so right now i have the bimini up all the time.

Well i have tried to use the box anchor twice so far with disappointing results. The first time i used the anchor was by the Barnegat inlet where we anchor by the shore. We went on a friday so i wanted to anchor out and back up to the shore then use the box anchor for the stern to keep the aft close to the beach as possible. Its a sandy bottom, but the current was so strong that the anchor didnt hold boat where i wanted it. As i was pulling the anchor in I was just so surprised at how easy it was to drag the anchor across the sand. I started with 100ft of rope and it wouldnt hold, I was a little dissappointed.

2nd time i used it was at tices shoals where the bottom is a slightly mucky and again i used it as an aft anchor to control my crazy swinging. Again that didnt hold and i was able to pull the anchor in with not much effort. So i am not sure why it aint working but i am going to try to return it to west marine and just go with a regular anchor and save the money. The current conditions this time was not bad. It just seems like this boat swings way too much.

At BI I must of had almost a 20:1 scope and at tices i have around a 7:1 scope, Dont believe the 2:1 scope their telling you.
