New guy to this site. How did i miss this site? it looks fantastic. Plus all this boat talk will be good for my spirits as i look outside to -1 degrees. :smt009

I currently have DTV satallite which plays great in cabin TV but I want to add a cable outlet somewhere so I can watch TV on the deck. Obviously there are many options here such as mounted, bracketed or simply just place it on the dash when needed. But I wonder if anyone has any feedback or experience as to what makes most sense based on where current cables runs are located, having a TV in cabin already wired, do i split the IN signal which means i need another DTV box on deck, etc. Any contructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I am one of the guys that hates to drill holes in any part of the boat if not necessary.

Welcome to the board. Re the tv line, I removed the 'blomex' antenna but left the cable there. My plan is to one day take the line in the cabin going into the amplifier and putting it into a splitter instead, shooting the cable signal back up to the cockpit (arch). I have to first find a good stainless steel/gold receptacle set as well as a way to mount a tv in the cockpit.

What year 300 DA are we talking about here? You might want to post that in your signature line!

How are you getting DirecTV? Do you have a KVH type of dish on the boat or something hooked to the dock?

in regards to the type of dish I have both, one at the dock and one that is portable but no matter which dish i use they are both plugged in at the stern.

Question . . .When you remove the Glow Max antenna did you cut a cable or was it a plug at the base of antenna removed?

Not true at all. 300DA's just get better with age. And yours is a true and classic beauty. Jeff, I responded to your PM. I hope it helps. Brian
Aw shucks..... If it could get out of the wheel chair, I think it would give you a hug!!

I've replaced my Glomax with a FLAT antennae and the cable is just twisted on with your typical connector. Not necessary to replace the end.

:smt043:smt043:smt043Did they even have TV's in the late 80's??
Still want a hug?
I think they were still communicating with smoke signals back then. I had to open up the sales brochure and I don't see a TV as an option in the original brochure! I wonder when they were offered? See how old my boat is?? It does have a Morse Code cheat sheet above the touch key! :)
