400DA Canvas replacement

My 1997 400DA needs all new canvas. The boat is in Sant Carles in Spain, and there are no canvas suppliers / makers in the area.

Has anybody ordered a full set of canvas for a boat and had it delivered and then just fitted it themselves. Does any shop have patterns that are good enough for this to be an option?

I would be comfortable in buying like this and then fitting the domes myself, any recommendations would be appreciated.

I would be uncomfortable doing that as each boat is built to a slightly different tolerance. It probably isn't going to fit the way you want it to. The best way is to have someone come out and custom fit it to YOUR boat. Good Luck!

There is a company called Boatswain's Locker http://www.boatswains-locker.com/

The have all of the patterns to make you a full set of canvas. all you will have to do is install the snaps at the bottom of the canavs pieces to fit your snaps on your boat. their prices are not to bad and they will give you original materials and color all you need to do is give them your hull id number and they can look up the color that came with your boat.
They were hurting for work earlier this summer and offered me a sweet deal on a new bimini and enclosure for my 2001 DB

I am ordering a full set of canvas from Boatswain Locker. They have been great people to work with. As Matt says they can supply orginal material. The issue you eill have to overcome is the "Lift the Dot" snaps there is a special tool for installing them an dit is expensive. However where the Euro is now the whole thing could be cheap. If Boatswain Locker did not make your canvas more than likely Great Lakes Boat Top did, they are the parent of Boatswain Locker.

If you are content with the general fit of the current canvas you could send it away to the canvas house of your choice and use it as a pattern. You would obviously have to cover the cockpit in some way during this but you may get a better fit to your specific boat. You will still have to deal with picking the colour, the type of canvas, the type of window material etc.

Thanks for all the replies, unfortunately it transpires that the original canvas sets for this model were made in-house at Sea Ray, and therefore no company appears to have patterns available.

I think I will have a new set made here in the UK using the originals as patterns, and then fit the domes when I get to the boat.
