We need to remove and replace the original (1997) microwave oven in our 400SB . I can't see an obvious removable solution. There is a 1"+/- laminate covered strip under the front of the oven - does this come out? How? I can see no screws from underneath.
I'm going to put in a Convection/Microwave.

Thanks, Bud

Mine was screwed to a mounting board, that was in turn screwed in from underneath, access by removing the drawer below. I've got a different boat, but I can see no way they can be mounted other than from the bottom.

Just a caveat on installing a micro/convection combo- from experience. My micro was installed in a relatively tight space, with precious little ventilation. The oven wouldn't work on convection for more than 10 mins. or so because the heat buildup inside the cabinet was so intense the oven would shut itself down (auto overheat shutdown). The convection oven needs a lot more ventilation than a micro...

I came up with the idea of installing a blower motor into the side of the cabinet from underneath the sink- forcing air into the space and exhausting the overheated air out the front. Kinda noisy- but it works.

I assume you mean a 400 DB?

The small convection/microwave ovens are actually very useful. I don't use the microwave portion but the convection/baking oven thing works very well. It'll cook a mean prime rib...

On the 400 SB the microwave is above the refer...withe no 'showing' attachment screws in the face at the bottom or underneath which is a finished, trimmed lip over the refer.
I'm stumped

I looked at a 2000, 40SB online (don't know what year you have) and it looks like the fridge has to be pulled, and I'd bet the micro is screwed in from underneath.
The one I looked at seems to have no ventilation in the cabinet, so beware what I mentioned above.

Is this what you have?

Yes- this is the 400 SB I have. I have room for the micro/convection oven if I can get the original micro out.. It does appear the refer has to come out.

Thanks
Bud
