Advice needed connecting two head units to one amp

I believe that this configuration eliminates the option to play different content to different zones.
Yes, I decided I would most likely very, very rarely use that option and it wasn't worth the time, effort and money to try to figure out how to do that one.

Using a tablet
1: It is a hub of a system.Wifi and Outputs to system 12v or 110.
2: It can do bass or treble. Look on your computer for an EQ its there.
3: It can be accessed from around the world, WIFI.
4: It can run your heating and cooling, wow your Engine room can be linked to via a Camera.
5: Mapquest or navionics software with current charts.
6: Built in GPS in case your lost.
7: You can control all stereo systems with a tablet.
8: Lutron lighting can be controlled, wow just use your smartphone.
9: Locks and security,
10: Irrigation system.
With the apps and the right install and programming its a walk in the park compared to 10 yrs ago in MS DOS.

You can use a tablet and chrome so its wireless to your tv so no running wires and spending your time working when you should be enjoying your boat!!

Im probably forgetting something, so cheers to all!!

So after noodling on this all night I have decided to replace my XMD1 head unit with a Fusion IP700.

Good choice.

If you ever want to add a different source in one or more zones in the future, you could still do it with the Bazooka zone controllers. The volume for that source would be controlled separately from the Fusion head unit though.

So after noodling on this all night I have decided to replace my XMD1 head unit with a Fusion IP700. It support 4 zones. I can wire the four indoor speakers directly to the IP700's speaker connections as zones 1 and 2. Then I can wire the zone 3 RCAout to the amp that drives the 5 cockpit/bridge outdoor speakers and wire the zone 4 RCAout to the amp driving the two outdoor speakers on the bow. This gets me to state of the art control and all the wiring work is done right at the head unit.

Thanks to everyone for their inputs.

Just to complete this thread. I ended up not doing this. Rather I pulled the old 6 CD changer and installed a second head unit in its place. I wired the new head unit to the outside speaker's amps. The XMD1 now drives only the inside speakers. So, I have two separate inside and outside systems. I can split my iphone 3.5mm to both head units when I want the same music everywhere on the boat. Bottom line - it was just a lot cheaper this way. $139 for the head unit and the rest was just my labor moving wires around.
