We called our boat "Steel N Time" because we own a welding and fabrication business

Helo from Kingston Ontario. My sister and I have birthdays a day apart and plan to go with our husbands on our boat over to Alexandria bay for a Saturday and come back Sunday. Does anyone know of a fun place to stay that doesn't require a two night stay on the week end or a fun marina that we can park our boat and stay on it to sleep? We are not going until August but I am finding it very hard to find a place close to the action to stay overnight:huh:. Thanks in advance.

The Riversedge Resort http://riveredgeresorthotel.com/ is where we stay. The rooms are so, so. The facilities are the best in the area and the marina/docks are excellent. We prefer to stay on our boat when there.

Hutchinson's Boat Works is right next door, where I bought my boat :)

At RiverEdge you'll be a 2 minute walk to downtown restaurants, shops, bars. Check out Boldt and Singer Castles. Boldt is across the way from RiverEdge, Singer is down river about 10 miles. Dockage available for your boat there.

Thank you so much Chuck but I have called them and they will only do a two day rental as well in their Motel or their dock. AND AND NOW THEY ONLY HAVE ONE Room. You would think it was a holiday week-end. We cant find anywhere to dock or stay.

You could try Bonnie Castle for dock and room a little further away, or Hutchinson's for dockage if you don't want a room.

Other places to stay that come to mind in A-Bay:
Hutchinson's occasionally takes transient boaters. Worth a phone call if you want to stay aboard.
Alex Bay town dock - you may be able to stay overnight; convenient, but not quiet.
The Boardwalk - certainly nothing fancy but they have a pool and (I think) dockage.
Otter Creek Inn - not the greatest view, but less $$ than the Riveredge for sure.
Edgewood - a long walk into town, but potentially nice(ish) rooms with a view.
Captain Thompson's - nice view, don't know what's available for dockage.
Pine tree point - arguably the best view in the Thousand Islands, but hotel is completely run down. Read the tripadvisor reviews for a good laugh.
Hill's motor court - next to Rogers Marina. They probably have dockage, but I haven't seen one of the little tiny houses that you can stay in.

Honestly, the hotel scene here isn't great. If I were going to try to stay somewhere nice, I'd check into a B and B for possibly a better experience. Have a picnic meal from the town pavillion near the hospital during your visit-- just a gorgeous view for free...

Thanks so much for the great information. I have tried all the motels mentioned now, all are booked or require a two day minimom stay on week ends. We are going to try the city dock (we are not looking for peace and quiet on this trip). You need to send them an application to dock over night. Next time we will start booking alot earlier. Thanks again.

Karen, Give me afew days and I'll see if I can pull a few strings to get you a slip. :smt001

Seriously Wayne??? That would be awesome, BUT if you can't dont worry about it, you have alot more important things to worry about. Hope you are feeling at least a bit better. Sending you alot more healing vibes.:grin::grin:

Karen, Would you mind having a private slip near downtown A-Bay ?

I'll call my friend John and other friends up there this weekend to see if one can be had for ya.

Its no problem I'm always willing to help out another boater if I can.

And Thanks, I'm doing much better with this new Doctor I've been seeing. :smt038

Take care, Wayne

Wayne, if it is real close to downtown so we could walk that would be great:smt001. My Sis and I tend to do our birthdays up but good:smt101:wink: so the getting back would be my concern. Whether you can get us a slip or not doesn't matter at this point, I am sure we will get the city slip but I would like to thank you SOOOO much you have warmed my heart. Karen
