OK, So, It's 41 years old, Pre-Brunswick take-over at Sea Ray!!
I know its rough right now but, I don't have any monthly payments....
So, heres the boat. I respect any and all comments or suggestions.
The Hull and Gelcoat are in good condition. Basic white, needs interior, engine cover and some rewiring to make it reliable and ready to have fun on the water.
Thanks for looking,
Michael

Cool old Sea Ray. Question, have you checked for water intrusion in the hull, stringers, soft spots, transom, etc? Bilge looks pretty rough and carpet looks like it's sat uncovered for some time. I don't want to rain on your parade but if there's rot down there, you're looking at a much bigger project than you think. Post some pics as you go and best of luck in the resto!

wow that boat brings back memories. I grew up on a boat like that. I think it was a 72 or 73. I have old picts of it around somewhere. Best of luck to you.

Hey chatter box thanks for the well wishes. Let me know if you have those old pica I need to seriously redo this boat P/O really rednecked the heck out of the boat so let me know .
Thanks, Mike

Mike,
The engine and outdrive look salvagable. If so that's a huge part of the equation. If your good with fiberglas or know someone who is then the rest should be elbow grease and parts money. There are a number of 70's boat owners on this site. Start with my picture profile then use the search function.
Best of luck to you.

Yes, I Agree. Not sure the P/O told me they were for night fishing. Yaa-Hoo.
Thanks for your response.
Michael

Thanks Again, OldSkool I have found no water damage to the floor, stringers as of yet. The parts are the main thing and I have and will continue to find other owners with similar boats that have posted pictures.
Thanks, Michael

Thanks, CoralReefer. I have checked and rechecked the entire floor and the transom and bilge area. I didn't find any soft spots or damage. Seems this year the Sea Rays had a solid glass floor except for the bilge area which I cleaned and checked and found no rot. The P/O put the carpeting in the boat last year he owned the boat for 3 years, the saving thing is the boat has Mooring canvas and he kept it on most of the time. Thanks Again, for your comments.

Hey wish2fish,
I had ask the same question. Funny he said that he kept the cover on most of the time. I think it didn't get put on after there was beer involved and he forgot. Any way the cover gets put on each time that I put the boat away. Beer is not a problem for me. Maybe the rum and coke. LOL
Thanks for the input.
Mike

Thanks Pietro for the good luck. I really like your 390 it looks great. Mine is is a runabout, I spent many a day in a Coast Guard 44 footer doing Search and Rescue and it was not near as nice as yours by a far stretch. Someday, I might sell the house and buy larger Sea Ray live aboard boat. Sail the oceans and all the wonderfull waterways in this world. AAAAAAAhhhh dreams.
Thanks, Mike

I truly love to see someone taking the time to restore an older boat. Or anything, for that matter! Don't let the project overwhelm you - one piece of the puzzle at a time, make it right, then move on. It will get done. A project like this keeps you young!!! (or so I have been told - mine is aging me like a time machine!!!)

Dale

Hello Dale,
I know exactly what you mean, I have restored many a old Chevrolet 5-6-7 Bel Air and a couple of Corvettes in my shop in California. This is a slow steady project. Thia project will be tempered by time and money as time and money allows. I have yet to come to the overwheiming part but I am sure there will be those times to come. I learned a long time ago, All things will pass, and as they pass so shall they require addressing in the future. In short Take your time, If at 1:30 in the morning a problem seems it cannot be resolved, leave it alone. After a good nights sleep, the problems is easily solved.
Thanks, Mike

I have one pict of our old boat but didnt' find it, so I will keep looking. My mom should have copies. Other then the lights on the deck, drink holder (had one just like it) and a few other things it looks like it did from the factory. There is something missing on the gun whells and I can't remember how it was done but I do remember that is were we stored our fishing poles and it was a pain to get them in and out. Looks like yours is all open. We did a lot of troeliing with our boat and that little motor was great on gas. We added a stainless prop and that helped with the speed a little but it wouldn't get a adult up on single ski.
