i did not measured this , but there is a touch of cylinderbody visible in full up position - maybe a 1cm ( little less than 1/2 " ) , not more. the tabs look parallel to the boat when fully up.


my girlfriend operated the tabs while í was standing behind the boat - both tabs operate smoothly without any intermediate "stucking" , time for a full travel is about 4-5 seconds.

i have to admit the port tab ( with the shorter hydraulic line because the pump is portside ) reaches full down deflection a little bit faster - maybe half a second .

before hauling i made a last test with more bow down - that worsens the situation and the system tends to overreact with bow down zero setting. ( e.g it corrects a slight port list by pushing the boat hard over to stbd and then fails to recover from that until i manually level up again )

Yes, More bow down will be worse as the boat will want to "bow steer" and sheer off to one side or the other. This will happen with any boat if the bow it down too far. The size of the Trim Tabs is about right.

the dimensions in your posting reflect about the installation i have. like previously said i never believed the tabs are too small since the boat reacts immediately and firmly to manual tab input. - in manual mode your tabs do a great job every time in every situation.

your ATC also proved in many reviews to work great on many boats - here it simply appears the ATC does not like or is overhelmed with the "livly" running characteristics of a 240 sundancer.

on the other hand of course - having a rock solid boat which barely calling for any tab input you can question for what you want to have the ATC at all.

with bow up its to "careful" , with bow down its gets overhelmed by your mentioned bow steering tendency - or i have a uncommon and strange fault in the gyro unit we all have no idea about .
