My family and friends took part last year and had a ball.
I missed out and will again this year due to work:huh:.
Can be alot of fun from shore too. Many good viewing areas all along the waterfront.
Enjoy,

Lighting Up Stamford Harbor Third Annual Holiday Parade of Lights
10/7/08

A holiday boat parade of lighted and decorated vessels of sail, power, recreational and commercial, individuals and organizations will parade through out the Stamford Harbor kicking off the holiday season. The past two year's the parade has grown in size and was so successful, organizers, participants and new entries have been eagerly planning for this year's parade.

The vessels will rendezvous at 5:30 pm, Sat. Nov. 29th in the East branch of the harbor at Czescik Marina. The boats will parade down the east branch and head towards the Stamford Yacht Club. The vessels will turn around and then proceed down the West branch passing the Avalon Pier and ending at the Crab Shell Restaurant and at Stamford Landing for viewing and judging. Awards will be given for Best Decorated, Most Original, Most Creative, Most Outrageous, Best Yacht Club or Association of both sail and motor boats. Vessels of any size are welcome and there is no cost to participate. There are a number of great places to view the event starting with Czescik Marina, Harbor House, Palmers Landing, Brewers Marina, Stamford Landing, Southfield Park, Koscoisco Park, Avalon, the Crab Shell restaurant just to name a few.

Andy Liljequist, event founder said he participated in the Mystic, CT. parade three years ago, and had so much fun, he felt that Stamford should have it's very own parade. We're looking to start something that will grow for years to come as a fun event on the harbor.

Dick Gildersleeve, event founder and owner of the Crab Shell Restaurant, said it's an event after Thanksgiving and is an enjoyable way to ease into the holidays. Organizers feel it offers comraridie on the water amongst friends and neighbors. The Crab Shell outside bar called The Shack will be OPEN this year, serving food, wine and beer outdoors with the heaters on.

Maureen Boylan event organizer from Events R Us felt it is a fantastic event to bring together community organizations and sponsors such as the Stamford Chamber of Commerce, WindPath, Vineyard Vines, West Marine, etc. as well as providing entertainment. DJ Jason Bone will spin his music indoors as well as The Pink Baby Band will be performing outside at the Crab Shell. This event provides fun family entertainment for all ages. We ask all boaters and non-boaters to bring unwrapped presents for children for Toys for Tots and you can bring them to the restaurant.

Boaters can register their boats online and pick up their ID registration numbers at West Marine prior to the parade no later than Friday Oct. 28th. Weather you're a boater or not, either side of the channel will provide great viewing. For more information and applications, call Maureen or Dick at the numbers provided above. Applications can be down loaded directly from our new website at: www.stamfordboatparade.com.

Have fun decorating your boats and "SEE YOU ON THE WATER"

Mark,

Thanks for the heads up! Enjoy the Holidays!

Unfortunately she came out of the water yesterday. Looks like fun though.

Mark, you still in the water? Man I'm jealous......... :smt089

Gonna be a little chilly this weekend also... YIKES!

Hey, guys.
As posted, I am going to miss it again this year.
Darn work thing getting in way again!

Still in the water and Northport this weekend...not bad with the heaters on and canvas up.
I will wrap it up in December.

I understand its a fun party at the end of the line and Crabshells food (beer) isn't bad. Anybody bored that night should check it out and yes take Pics...
Mark.
