The local paper ran this today. I guess we have it pretty good.

"Bonita Beach has been named the 7th healthiest beach in the nation according to CNN Travel. CNN along with a team of travel and health experts, teamed up to find the nation’s most popular beach and lake towns. The team evaluated air and water quality, the abundance of parks, the cost of a hotel room and more in order to determine the top ten healthiest getaways.

“It’s pretty cool,” said Mayor Ben Nelson. “The comments they made about Bonita Beach shows what a unique area we live in. I think it really highlights why people end up here and that those recreational qualities we have here are important. You can’t think of a much cleaner industry than tourism.

“In the short-term, who knows,” he said. “People overseas want a place that has a great beach and a clean community. Any time you can get national attention that highlights your community is a great thing for everyone.”

Judges rated Bonita Beach as having the best sand anywhere along with praising the beautiful shells washed ashore with the tides and the 1,500 acres of parks.
