During my last trip the display on my Raymarine C80 began to jitter and then ultimately blacked out. I assume this is due to the souther heat and age of +10 years old. None the less, it needs to be replaced. I prefer to replace it with the same model or the E80 since the Radar is a RD218 radome and isn't supported by the newer units on the market (As or Es). All connections would be the same including the satellite weather receiver that I have installed. There are several available on eBay. The question I have is what is really the difference between the C80 and the E80? I doesn't appear that Searay connected the Smart system to my C80 an was wondering if that was a connection possibility to the E80? From the last 8 years of operating it appears that the C80 is independent of the smart system information. Looking for recommendations with C or E but I don't want to buy new due to the cost. I do have Navionics on my smart phone and iPad so forget that.

I had the same issue with my C80, which BTW I was told you can send it in to Raymarine and for a flat rate they will fix, that being said I opted to buy a "new" E80 on EBay as I found a good deal on an E rather then a C (paid $500). I was getting close to the start of our season and was afraid I wouldn't get the unit back from Raymarine in time. The E80 has a few more features over the C, big ones being video in/out features, screen slightly brighter and few minor bells and whistles, can't help you on Smart Craft, as we don't have it...

I had the same issue with our c80 at the end of last year. Sent the unit to raymarine in NH. They fixed it and sent it back $125. They call you and give you a quote for approval before they will fix it. They also update the software if needed.
