Clarion Speakers

Has anyone had problems with their Clarion Speakers lasting more than about a year and a half before the white cone starts to crumble. I have replaced 2 of the speakers with new clarions that have turned to junk. Sea Ray needs to switch to another brand. I wont buy clarions again.

Any particular model? how old are they? Or is this just a rant?

I have panasonic's on mine so I can't comment on the clarion quality.

I'm replacing all four of my cockpit speakers tomorrow with Sony XS-MP1620W. They have the same cut-out and screw pattern of the clarions that came with the boat which are now seven seasons old and they are all dried, cracked and fuzzy.. but that's still seven seasons so I'm not complaining too much. I got the Sonys on eBay for 60.00/pair, Crutchfield and West Marine had them for twice that..

The Sony's will suffer the same fate as the Clarions. Try the WetSounds XS650. Great Speaker, Great quality, Great Sound, and the will last.
