Cleveland?...............in January?...............you have got to be kidding! :smt043

Since I am a native Clevelander, I am just kidding you. The Cleveland Boat Show is always terrific. I just can't the same about the weather in January.

Good luck with your business during the show and if I just happen to be up in Cleveland then I will drop by the boat show and your booth.

Brad,

We will make it a point to stop by and say hi!

Dave,

If my memory serves me right, the weather last January was terrific (for Ohio) - it was February and March that killed us!!!!

The Cleveland show is a good one...I'll stop by for sure.

I'm going Saturday !

LEB,

Went to the show last Saturday. Spent most of our time in the MM booth looking at Sea Rays. Started looking at a 240DA and decided the 280DA would fit our needs better. But that's a couple of years away. Was hoping to see a 27 or 29 AJ, but they did not have one there. The new 47 Sedan Bridge is very nice. The salon layout is much better in person that what is shown in pictures. Overall, very functional. The MM sales person and I couldn't figure out how one would change the light bulbs behind the panels in the owner's stateroom. I guess if you are paying that much for a boat, you'll have someone do that for you!

Looked at a few other lines, but the quality doesn't seem to be that of Sea Ray.

Chris Craft is putting out an attractive boat. Their Center Consoles look impressive.

Growing up on Lymans, I couldn't pass up taking time to look at the reburbished ones on display. The refinisher out of Sandusky (can't remeber their name) has a 28' Sportsman with a green hull. What a beauty!

Enjoy the show!

PS The show actually started on January 11, not the 17th as the title of this post implies.

I was at the pitiful 1st. Richmond show this past weekend and saw a 27AJ right up front .

I could not get over the tiny combo unit they had on the console. :smt021I have always thought I wanted an AJ and everything else on this boat worked for me. The boat interior is laid out well for cruising and fishing but with a single engine and 8-6 beam I am probably going to need to go bigger.

I was there yesterday. 1st impression, I was amazed at how FEW people were there. Hopefully not a sign of the times.

Buckeye Boater,

They did have a 29 AJ there! It was NOT located at the main MM display area. It was sitting basically on its own right next to the "Angler's alley". I liked the boat as a pretty good attempt to balance the needs of the fisherman with the desire to overnight as well. My only real "issue" was that you could not go down into the cabin squared up with the steps as your shoulders literally would not fit through. I'm 5'-11" and normal build and as such should fit into the typical type of guy using th e boat. That was a real turn off. Otherwise, a nice Sea Ray.

Only other thoughts were that the 34 sundancer really felt like a whole lot more boat (particularly in the cabin area) than the new 33. Didn't really look at the big, big ones as that's just fantasy for me.

I have to say, I don't think I saw a single "sold" sign on any of the boats that I looked at.:smt009 This was my 1st time back to the show in 3 years, so maybe the dealers don't do that kind of thing anymore.

All in all, a nice show. Great place to compare models.

Cleveland and Cincinnati Boat show are at the same time? Seems a little odd considering the number of boat and other dealers from the north that are usually at the Cincy show. Is it always the same weekend?

W2F,

Never really noticed that they were the same dates. The Cincy show seems to be more like the Sport and Travel Show that is held in Cleveland in March. That show has a little bit of everything - boating, fishing, hunting, camping, travel, etc.

LEB,

Didn't even make it over to Angler's Alley. If we did, I am certain that the Admiral would have enjoyed the 29 AJ. The next one will be as you describe - a balance of fishability and overnighting.

MM rings a bell everytime they close a sale. In the time we spent in their area (2-3 hours) I only heard it ring once. If memory serves me right, it was ringing more frequently last year.

Bringing back an old thread with this years show.

It opened tonight (1/16/09).

Anyone going this year???

Headed up in the morning (Saturday 1/17/09)...it is a tradition for me and my son...I'll post a report and prices when I get back.

Heading up tomorrow morning too! Can't wait to pretend to be in the water again. I'm having my salon re-upholstered and a teak sole so I am looking for ideas.

Boat show was cut way down this year. I was asked if I wanted to sign up for a chance to win a free basement water proof. Along with an add on sun room at another booth. I'll have to look at my Sea Ray and see if I need these items.
