We had a great day yesterday cruising up to the Trump Marina and hanging out at the DECK bar. Coast Guard and Marine Police were out in full force, boarding and watching for the many dumb things we see out there. At one point, we had to slow down when approaching a no wake buoy; a CG boat was on the buoy waiting. I slowed down before the buoy and had no wake behind me when we passed it. Nonetheless, I heard the CG on CH16 basically telling me this was a no wake zone and that I was going to fast. I told him I had slowed down before the buoy. Then I left, expecting him to follow and board for a safety inspection (which we would have passed 100%, btw). He didn't, but looked like he was thinking about it. I may be wrong, but I think seeing that we were sober, monitoring 16 and that we had our TypeV PFDs on, he may have figured we knew what we doing on the water and gave me the benefit of the doubt. Then cruised to another waterside bar in SomersPoint and had a salad. Finally left for home port under a beautiful moon. First time using the RADAR at night - nice!
